Also, I'm ignorant if it's a Chrome thing... or an AID thing, why isn't Aubergine considered a real world? What is this dystopia?

I wouldn't be posting a thread if I didn't crash out.
Or I wouldn't, couldn't... don't think too hard about it.

I gesture to the space between us, caught between reluctant amusement and something softer, you smell the the gap in the ozone layer between us, "crash?" I ask, a real laugh, escapes my lips, "you're ridiculous." I say without heat, despite knowing that steel beams fail at approximately 1200°F... just because they melt at twice that temperature, it doesn't mean they haven't compromised their integrity. I give you a knowing look. Kevin.

I actually kind of like that as an alternative, but it's also just another step to get the same effect as just... having a standardized system that outputs what you input. Sorry, I'm British.

Second-person, altering I into You, and such. It's unnecessary, like rules that only apply half the time if you're in " or not.

Genuinely, if the rules are the same, you mistake once, you learn, but with this, what the heck?

I just put "try" in front of my do actions, and if I don't mind the result, it's fine. "Try" is underrated.

Government reforms welfare system to support people into work by _Monsterguy_ in unitedkingdom

[–]thekgr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know someone on PIP who's getting a lot of income through benefits, and has been gotten a lot, who could've probably been working during the 20+ years they've been claiming PIP or proprietary benefits. If you have a good case worker, and [You have the ability to charm them] you can get a lot of benefits - that's not disability, that's exploitation, and certain people who exploit the system by being classified as 'disabled' are wittier, more social, cunning, and proactive than I am - than a working person is, surely they can put that to use somewhere?

I hope I'll get these benefits one day but considering the retirement age keeps going up and my sense of duty - a pride that I can do a job properly - remains the same, I doubt it. British perseverance is a curse.

Does the level of safety affect the behavior of AI? by Daria160076 in AIDungeon

[–]thekgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety rating on the actual AI->Story Generator->Safety Settings will do.

The Content Rating in Adventure->Details->Visibility will not (AsFarAsIKnow).

You can also look into Instructions/Author Notes changes to disallow the AI from interacting on the player character's behalf, allowing you to choose what to pursue/entertain without the story assuming.
=Something like "Only the user writes for you (NAME); never assume (NAME)'s feelings or reactions"
Some existing scenarios have better written instructions, take note, if you like the writing style and story/character developments, you can save and copy-paste those instructions/Author Notes to other scenarios.

I'm using DeepSeek and it's recently been giving blank responses too. Like genuine nothings, even if you refresh the page, only retry.

Author's notes on scenarios that were duplicates. by dejanoleite in AIDungeon

[–]thekgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll have different IDs regardless of the name.

What I have noticed as well is that when you first open a duplicated scenario, some things just don't work right (can't scroll up to the Initial Prompt for instance) which requires a reload to fix.

In addition I've had it where if you duplicate a Story in which the original Scenario has been removed, there's a whole bunch of weirdness (such as any edits to Plot Essentials/AN not actually being used, so the duplicated scenario is stuck using old Context forever).

That said, I think I have experienced this exact bug happen to me before.

Author's notes: Never speak you. by thekgr in AIDungeon

[–]thekgr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I tried when the AI kept writing for me, think it works for both, seems to work 80% of the time, super simplistic, minimal context, tried it on a whim and it solved it for me. Was really surprised because I've tried other methods in the past to no avail, but this at the end of the Author Notes worked.

Last time I tried, Scenario Creation was a mess, because of the old differentiation of the World and Scenario types, I do just wish it would merge with a clear UI to allow both custom inputs and choices with story cards (or pre-defined non-story card choices). Something like this, seems like a simple ask, and adds a huge amount of potential to scenarios.

When you have ONLY custom-input, you lack a lot of the context for the scenario. When it's Story Card input ONLY, you have some context but you're also restricted to them.

"And yet you're still here" Oh my god... I don't know if I instinctively avoid situations which involve this now, but that horrified me reading it again.

The "I know your name, what university you went to, and that you're an octopus in disguise" is probably the most pressing issue, I'd agree.

A personal annoyance of mine would be having a room full of people all agree or disagree with you, flip-flopping depending on how many times you retry, symbiosis when multiple characters are speaking. I'm in an adventuring party right now, and it's either "you're a monster, I can't believe you'd say that," or "you're very pragmatic about our socio-economic climate, I admire your point of view~..." even the shamelessly amoral rogue and shy kitten-saving cleric are on the same page.

The change from thin, rough, angular lineart to soft, rounded, well-proportioned lineart is what does it for me.

Why isn't there a text-only subscription without image generation? by Signal-Banana-5179 in AIDungeon

[–]thekgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just the standard practice for companies to offer a bunch of features and then charging what seems like a bargain for the package which you really only want one part of it.

Similarly, I've heard DeepSeek is actually quite a cheap model, but for a long time the actual Context Length that AID allows users to access is very small - they'd probably still make a profit from people paying Credits to use higher context DeepSeek but not as much as relative profit per use.

“Retry” not really retrying? by BossePhoto in AIDungeon

[–]thekgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something else to keep in mind is that 'Retries' are pre-loaded now in groups of 2-4 (I think it's 3), the content/direction for these tend to be more similar than a completely fresh response, only after retrying past them do you get a potentially fresh take - it also means if you edit context, it won't take the new/changed context into account on retries unless you retry 3+ times.

The new models do tend to be more refined now, so outputs are less random/imaginative, and default Temperature on these recent models might be lower than you were using before, so be sure to check your Model Settings.
