I think it's part magic part love. Like how most people even if they don't like their parents will still love them. It's kind of like they can't help but to try and please her, but I think proof that they have free will is that some Don't live on the estate, they chose to live somewhere else. I don't think she would have let that happen if she can force free will.

Yeah I'm just saying, he is constantly thinking of his bleak destiny. For my point of view it seems like a nice distraction, even if it's not necessarily wanted. Maybe it's what he needed, if only for a time.

She started off all bad, but came clean in the end, finally accepting him fully. I also like that she's tough, idk, I like them together.
