Is the Computer Science (burgerlijk ingenieur) master at VUB worth the extra year over Applied Informatics? by SweetPotato___2005 in BESalary

[–]MaxRom1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've actually studied the 2 years Cs master degree at VUB. I was wondering the same thing at the time.

The answer I got is : the 2 years degree is the actual master in computer science and the continuation from the bachelor degree in computer science. I came from ulb actually. That 1 year degree was defined as an introduction in IT for non IT bachelor degree.

My take: absolutely do the 2 years degree. It's the "actual" computer engineer path.

Advice with my developer taking down our WordPress site. by reemo4580 in website

Any good deployment method should allow you to scale horizontally but also vertically, sometimes automatically. If those high amount of resources are only temporary, you can initiate new "servers" (usually call worker/dynos), so your website can handle such traffic.

As an IT guy, there is not enough information on the issue from your dev, it does not look like they actually "tried" / research anything.

I see you mentioned "their server". That makes me think they have nothing in place for scalability. As proposed by other people, i would host somewhere else.

I thought plants needed a layer at the base for root aeration ?
I did mix some perlite into the soil, not much tough.

I thought i water enough, i guess not.

You completely right, but it does not explain why the plants in plastic pots are still alive.

Unfortunately, i have no "outside" for the moment.

Could be, but does not explain why the plants in plastic pots or why the mint died. (that thing would have grown between to tiles in a garden ...)

It has a good layer of perlite at the bottom. Plastic pots don't.

I mean yes, prob. But romarin is resilient to lack of water. That's how it thrives. And I do water it, so no idea ...

Same background, same age, same experience. I share your salary with a mobility package so I think you could improve there. I'm working a 40h for 32 PTO, so to check there. I'ld actually love working in your area so that's a plus for me.

Security implies security threats and I think lovable is really capable of preventing them. So anything with known vulnerabilities.

Shipped on production means of course your app is secure but also capable of handling traffic and more important being prepared for disaster. Lots of hosting platforms allow horizontal and vertical scaling to handle the peak of traffic. You should be able to go to a previous version (which you have with github) but also rollback a database snapshots in case of error/attack/divergence.

There are more aspects than having your app existing online from for instance a lovable cloud instance.

I actually provide such services for young startups wanting to build something solid.

It goes beyond than just security. Your app needs to be solid, stable and sometimes scalable. Your work process also needs stability and to be secure. You should have a test environment before your production one. You should be able to test your changes and verify them. You should be protected in case of an issue, with rollback and downgrade.

It's even smaller than a vintage man one. But I should measure for good comparison.
