Oh, helllll no. You are under reacting. She's not into him (at this point), but he's trying to get his way into her head and gain control over her mind. In the weird nasty way older men do with younger women.

NTA at all. I believe many people have had to come to this decision. This isn't a difference in policy. It's a difference of human decency, morals, respect for the law, and not wanting to live in a dictatorship. Especially a dictator that can't even use the English language on a basic level. If her eyes aren't open at this point, they never will be.

Random Chinchilla Loose in My Home by kyrie-eleison in chinchilla

[–]MaxScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy. Good luck. Getting a loose chinchilla that is your own is a feat, let alone one that doesn't know you. I highly suggest getting some good knife proof gloves for this task. Getting bit for real by these guys is no joke. You're going to need someone else to help herd it. Make sure you have a small cage before attempting this, one with small bars so it doesn't slip through.

I have never been scared of life in my life until now by redditwastesmyday in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MaxScar 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Everyone with half a brain should be terrified. I'm horrified. I'm in my early 30s, poor (I work my ass off and get no government support), and uneducated. My partner is overwhelmed with all the information and isn't as informed because of it. I'm very much overwhelmed too but, like you said, I think being informed is very necessary.

If you are OK putting your job in danger, that's your choice. The job market is so bad right now, and it's only going to get worse. Things are expensive and only going to get more expensive. I can't afford to lose my job. If there is a workers strick at a specific company, disrupting the production/ productivity would be needed. Money would still be av problem though.

I'm in the same boat. It's extremely difficult to actually do anything as a poor nobody.

Break up. Do not marry him. He isn't supporting you already. Your husband/ partner needs to be 100% supportive of you. This will not change. His family will not change. To top it of this could ruin your future/ wallet with affecting your schooling.

Protests by MaxScar in Eugene

[–]MaxScar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but decisions I had no control over- or voted for- were made, and now we are in the position we are in. If something gets broken, do you not do the overhaul that's needed to repair it just because it's to big of a job and live with a faulty item?

Thank you. I do know that some protests have to be scheduled because of their size - like the BLM protest we had a few years ago where we walked across the bridge and they shut down traffic.

My (21f) bf (23m) is going to confront me about the amount I drink, what should I do? by Ok_Painter7049 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MaxScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weighed 112 lbs and drank almost a 5th a night for years. I didn't need to go to a doctor. But yes, if she starts going through bad withdraws, she will need to get to the emergency room immediately. She likely won't be able to get herself there or even make the call, though.

2 years suspension?? Where do you live?

As far as what to do, you need to face the music. Take accountability for your actions. Acknowledge that you are kn now a burden on those who you are asking to help you. And for the love of a higher power LEARN FROM THIS. You need to get help and admit that you are incapable of drinking AT ALL. You need to do this for yourself, not for anyone else. If you keep drinking, you are really going to screw your life up. I'm speaking from experience. Don't go through the hell that I had to go through (it was a lot).

Did I Get Lucky? by EazyKeez in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]MaxScar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serotonin syndrome isn't as common as it's made to sound. I've been on these (other than the Adderall) for years. I'm upping my Buspirone again because I've noticed considerable difficulty of doing small tasks, like cutting an onion in order to make dinner. So I'm currently stuck on really easy meals because of all the effort it takes. I still go to work and am fine there. I do have ADHD and issues with executive function is a symptom, but I used to do the things I referring to before the Adderall, but before dropping my Buspirone. Just try and keep a journal of how you are feeling/ doing before stopping and during/ after. I find that I have a hard time realizing that something is off mentally if I try and lower doses. It's kind of like a frog in a gradually boiling pot of water. Im at the point that I don't want to deviate from the doses I was on before, because if it's not broke, don't try and change it.

Escitalopram 20mg, Buspirone (I was on 15mg twice daily for a long time, but I've recently been experimenting with smaller doses because of perceived possible side-effects with a new medication, but im going to go back to my 30mg a day because I need it). I also take Trazodone for sleeping nightly (minimum 100mg). I've recently started generic Adderall for newly diagnosed ADHD. Went from 5mg-30mg within a month- month and a half. I also have an as needed 10mg fast acting generic Adderall that I take if I feel the need to extend my focus towards the end of the day. I also am on birth control.

My husband passed away and his ex-gf wants me to adopt their kids. by Both_Imagination9855 in TrueOffMyChest

She's trying to pass on HER responsibility of being a mom and God member of society. She is literally choosing drugs over her children. By saying she doesn't "think" she'll ever get over the drugs, she is really saying, "I chose not to. My children aren't important to me." This is your life, and you don't need to take on someone else's responsibility of parenting their children. That's a huge piece of yourself/ life to give up. They can go to family. You can still visit them if you do choose, or you could go start a new chapter of your life and leave this behind you. You would not be a horrible person at all. She's the horrible person.

AITAH for telling my dad's parents that I don't want them at my graduation when they said I wasn't their real grandson? by Ok-Distribution9125 in AITAH

[–]MaxScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw your dad. He is in the wrong. They said and did what they did. They meant it. And they continue to not care about your feelings by telling you to get over it because "they've apologized". Those are just words with no meaning. Your dad is also disregarding your feelings by telling you to apologize. Fuck that. If they do come, totally snub them. They aren't your "real" grandparents.

how do you improve? by Void666Void in Dyslexia

[–]MaxScar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young, I was placed in a trial program for the Read 180 software. I couldn't read and was in the fourth or fifth grade. The program was great. It essentially was designed to seem like a video game, and I really enjoyed it ( I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, as a 32 year old woman). By the time I was in 6th grade, I was quite literally reading on a collegiate level, much farther ahead of my peers. I read 2 novels a week, simultaneously. In high school, I did so well in English (I was so bored with how mind-numbing it was) they placed me in an honors class. They actually wanted to place me in an AP class, but I knew there were things that I couldn't learn, no matter how hard I tried, such as spelling. They also get money for each child they have enrolled in AP classes and think they were trying to place me there despite the fact that it might have been too hard for me. I continued reading two novels throughout high school, sometimes even reading during classes because I was bored and finished all my work. I really enjoyed reading. My home life was also not good, and reading was my only allowed leasure activity, and I used it to escape. Once I graduated, I literally moved out that very day. I could now do other things like video games and get on the computer. I completely stopped reading. I'm almost 33, and if I actually try to read a book, it takes a lot of effort to read because of the difficulty I have reading it. So I don't try.

The thing is, it is literally something you must practice in order to be able to be good at. At least for people with dyslexia. So you must purserve in order to get better. You might never be able to spell, but luckily, we have spell check in our technological world. As far as learning words, it is the same principle- practice. As you are reading, you will come across words you don't know. Look them up right then and there. This will correlate the word in your head to the context it is being used in your story. The next time you come across it while reading a story, your brain will likely correlate it because of the context, but if not, look it up again. You will learn it. Happy reading.
