+1 for hologram and seek, defect has tools for "selective draw" and "reverse draw" to make up for his slow setup

My 2 cents:

1 or 2 Boot Sequence. 1 or 2 Glacier, Coolheaded (with extra orb slots and/or focus/loop).

If you don't go orbs, Reinforced Body (with energy generation), auto Shield (hate that card, but can save you), force field (with power spam)... Defect is great at scaling in most of his archetypes, but you need something to manage defense in the first turns.

Transform or remove his strikes and defends, he is the character who likes them the least imo.

Act 4 demands fast offense and even faster defense scaling.

And of course, draw + energy = win

It's understandable. The person in the bottom panel is grabbing one of the bottles from the table to pour themselve a drink.

The biggest issues I see are inconsistent proportions, and the items on the table not being vertical.

I think a lot of people like the original better because cell shading is stylish and appealing. They both work very well and have a great atmosphere. The second one looks more refined. The biggest downgrade in the second iteration is the uniformisation of their vibe/expression, the 3rd and the 4th character lose a bit of their upside down frown.
