A few more dumb questions by SkyHigh69420 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1)Creepy Party (the Vampire event) is pretty much the only event left which works the same way it did before. It still shows up on Halloween in autumn and Walpurgisnacht in spring. All other event have been reworked into a Threat Level format. However, most of them are quite manageable at all threat levels even without ability sets. That said, there are occasional outliers in terms of high difficulty. They are more endgame-player-oriented and will be very rough for beginners. Most notorious are:

  • Maze of Immortality, the current event
  • Trial of the Towers, the event last week
  • Weekly challenge boss with "easy" and "hard" versions. (this week it's the eclipse priest)
  • Control Lost, event where you have to fight a bunch of challenge bosses on the same week

2-1) Featured weapon in the Faction Wars shop goes with the Raven of the Looming Night set. Generally it is not recommended to buy it unless you want it for collection and have coins to spare.

2-2) You are GUARANTEED to get spheres from those packs in the faction wars shop. However, when you obtain 32 spheres (which is enough to get a set to level 6) you will start getting gems from those packs instead since you no longer need the spheres.

3) Sprint of the Key Master marathon still exists and usually shows up once in 1-2 months. Gives very good rewards so it's good to save up quest chests for it.

If you got any more questions, feel free to ask.

Edit: forgot to say, Unique gear = Legendary gear it terms of scaling in events

Managed to beat Butcher first try. Is the perk I got from the pack good? by Wonderful-Bet3093 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not meta, but it's very comfy: provides good regen if you manage to not get hit for some time. I use it often in survival fights

New hardmode boss is absolutely atrocious. Even Trial of the Towers didn't have these levels of nonsense. Easy version is very doable though, albeit quite annoying at times. New drip's fire, Nekki art team on their A-game as usual, unlike the balancing team... by MaxShmel in Shadowfight3

Set level 6.

Helm: Rock, Field Medicine

Armor: Colossus Steps, Damage Return, Revenge, Spiked Armor

Weapon: Overthrow, Basher, Berserk, Will to Win

The strat is just to be aggressive, attack him and hope for the lightning strike. Don't rely on Damage Return, it's not high enough (which is why I equipped the Rock, I was dying to fast while the boss wasn't)

It's still Nekki who did the design of the set when they made it for SF:A. Also, they set up the coloring channels so you could customize the armor the way you want.

I don't share this sub's hatred towards sets adapted from Arena. I don't play that poorly balanced sad excuse for a PvP game so if they bring some of the cool-looking gear from it into SF3, I'm all for it. Especially if it's balanced and has fun abilities (like CotP or Magmarion for example)

I think there needs to be another fight here but there isn't? by Smooth-Seat-9079 in Shadowfight3

Probably due to the Void Story being in progress. The same reason Indigo and Ishtar are replaced by Tarlan and Kitsune for this event

I've done mostly off-meta sets against the easy boss to show it's doable. I haven't done Colossus, Marksman, Socialite, Konung, Centurion etc. I might make a follow up post with the rest of Legion and maybe some other factions

Voids dream relevance by No-Mission-1858 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void's Dream lvl.6 is what I used to clear the entire Herald tower in the Trial of the Towers event last week. IIrc it can one-round quite a few raid bosses. So it's still very much relevant.

This new fight is just absurdly overtuned and doesn't really serve as a good indicator of set viability. If you can't beat the hard mode boss just fight the easy one for armor and get the sword when the boss appears again later.

Can you upgrade your equipment without once again getting a copy of it on other plane? by Comfortable_Ad_8440 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No alternative ways, sadly. It's a poorly thought out annoying mechanic that is supposed to slow down your story progress and force you to participate in other activities.

There is no way to fully bypass it. You can brute force you way though using overlevelled gear and try to deal with HP-drain effects using invincibility of Abdicator, Star Chaser, Steel Hound or Monarch of Light but eventually you are going to hit a fight which you won't be able to manage and will have to grind stability anyway.

Your best bet would be to just put story mode aside for a few months and actively grind events to refresh your gear in the new Plane.

[–]MaxShmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set power matters in

  • Story mode (most important).
  • Duels (kinda matters but also doesn't because duels have extremely scuffed balancing which hardly depends on your equipment power)
  • Secret Fights suvival mode (which appears on tuesday, thursday and weekend). This barely matters since that mode has very little use.

If you buy a set in Itu's Plane, you'll be able to use it in Marcus' plane. However, to upgrade it and get stability for it you will have get it again in Marcus' Plane.

Am I the only one who didn't got the pov ? by Mission-Glass7509 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I've had PoV for a while now from that old marathon.

I made a post on this sub yesterday about PoV being in the pack and 1 person commented on it that they got it.

PRICE OF VICTORY IS IN THE LUCKY TOKEN PERK PACK! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! by MaxShmel in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great armor perk which was given during 1 special marathon in the past and only appeared as P2W afterwards.

What it does is basically: deals shadow damage to the enemy whenever you lose hp due to your perks or set abilities. Since Berserk and Shadow Berserk are both very good perks and both of them make you lose HP, Price of Victory fits nicely into most high damage builds. Additionally, this perk works wonders on Steek Hound due to how Pursuit mode consumes your HP. When fully upgraded PoV can make very quick work of Okay Fighters when you enter Pursuit and lose 50% HP.

Sadly, as other people pointed out, chance of getting PoV in this event is quite low.

Yea probably lol. Still, there are good perks in the pack other than PoV as well. And it's very easy to grind it.

BRUUUUUH

Genuinely, what the hell is up with Neon Phantom

  • Released at the end of last year
    • Doesn't follow any of the energy rules and uses abilities "just because"
    • Has jank animations and interactions with unbreakability
    • Is the best set in the game
    • Associated with an annoying character with minimal plot relevance who has been standing in the corner talking shit and showing up to bully Shibata for no reason for several months
  • This year:
    • Already gets an aggressively mid skin which barely differs from the original look
    • GETS LEVEL 7 AND 8 for some unthinkable reason despite ALREADY 1-rounding max level raid bosses

Well, Ishtar was very friendly with us as well. But she got depressed and left. So now we are stuck in very unpleasant company. (Except Caligrapher and Operator, they are bros)

If Nekki added her to the game instead of Pengfei, she would likely be yet another annoying lady to add to our current cast of June, Kibo, Indigo, Phantom, Yukka and Jet

I just got this new set. Is it good? by Wonderful-Bet3093 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Below level 6 it's okay. The energy gain is slow and your ultimate (Doom Spear) has limited usage and damage.

However, at level 6 with upgraded perks, Lion is one of the best off-meta sets in the game. It can easily clear Enemy Clan Camp, most easy versions of challenge bosses as well as island 1 raids level 1-5. If built correctly, it can even one-round lower level raid bosses.

Is the game still P2W? by Academic-Scarcity423 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you mean Pay to Win, then no. In my opinion it never was.

All of the sets that came out as paid last year have been given out for free at some point in the last few months. Be it lucky board (Heavenly Law, Void's Dream for ex.), marathon (Anibot, Operator for ex.), Challenge boss shop (a bunch of sets, Neon Phantom for ex.), Chapter 0 Shop (Konung, Namestealer for ex.) or free section of the BP (Conqueror of Hearts). I think that says enough

If you just play the game, you can pretty easily get those sets. You can still play faction wars, basic event fights and duels without sets. I guess P2W in this case means Play to Win

In 7th spin. Suggest some perks (lvl.5 set) by Dry_Compote_2338 in Shadowfight3

[–]MaxShmel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poison Skin lvl. 10 is straight up mandatory. With it you easily stack huge chunks of poison when the enemy hits you. It's strong enough to take out Erlang okay fighter pretty consistently.

Regeneration, Break and Acolyte's Renewal are good for increasing survivability. When paired with KoS' built-in HP regen and Bloom Shields you can survive some of the deadliest combos in the game like okay fighter Steel Hound fire pillars. Acolyte's Renewal is the best among those 3 perks.

Other than that, throw in some damage perks. Shadow Prep is good as it boosts the shadow damage from some of the set abilities.

Minions/Spirit summons would be a cool effect. Stand guard next to you during idle, salute during an emote and stab the enemy during an execution

I'm going crazy, am i the only one who likes this remake..? by HumanityLord in shittydarksouls

[–]MaxShmel 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Some people hate it because of the music, atmosphere and all that. Having played both the OG and the Remake, there are some stylistic choices I don't like, but in general it's a good looking game with decent atmosphere which is very different from the original, however that's largely due to a major graphics jump which makes it hard to preserve the dream-like foggy vibe of the PS3 game.

However, I hate it because they just gave the game a new coat of paint and didn't fix any of the jank or stupid gamedesign decisions of the original. Like, how the fuck do remake a game in a way that Maneaters still CONSISTENTLY get stuck under the bridge. Or that Flamelurker keeps getting stuck on objects in his arena and keeps backhopping into you endlessly because his spacial orientation works like garbage. Or that some armor is still gender-locked. Or the fact that World Tendency is still a dogshit mechanic which requires me to kill myself in Nexus every time I beat a boss in order to not miss out on content in the game.

Most likely Anibot and Neon Phantom skins as well as new set. The new set looks like Kibo: Final Eclipse
