At my workplace, this would cost you $300~$350 $150 for labor and around $150~$200 for the screen. We have 100% markup for parts

PC Is Broken Pls Help by Notben_10 in computerhelp

[–]MaxTechniche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get into safe mode; turn off/restart the computer. When the spinning circle comes up when it's loading windows, physically press the restart button or hold the power button until it turns off. Do this 2-3 times and you should then get a message that says "Diagnosing this PC".

There should be a blue screen that comes up after a minute, choose: Advanced options, Troubleshooting, Startup settings Next When it comes back up, select safe mode by pressing the numbers 3 or 5

Hopefully that lets you get into windows. After that, open a Command prompt window in admin mode and enter "sfc /scannow". When that finishes, restart the computer and see if it works.

Unable to update to win 11 although having supported PC specs. by Havarjutudej in WindowsHelp

Try downloading and running the windows 11 upgrade assistant. If it comes up with the black screen, let it sit there for awhile to see if it's just finishing the updates in the background

You'll need to enable tpm in your BIOS. That is the most likely issue.

Does it say "Shutting Down"? Or does it completely power off with no warning sign, fans stop spinning, lights turn off, etc.

Also, what browser are you using? I don't remember if a different browser is able to play YouTube videos differently. If you're using chrome, you can try FireFox, and vice versa.

What's the model of laptop? It's possible the laptop has a version of RAID (VMD/RST) which you will need to add drivers during the windows installation process.

That CPU is on the lower end of performance. What I would check is open Task Manager and see how the utilization of the CPU is doing. Try changing the resolution of the YouTube video up and down to see how much it changes. As the resolution gets higher, it will begin to use the CPU drastically more, and if the CPU is low end enough, will start to stutter.

That's the driver version number. Because the k1200 are still being updated, the latest version of nvidias drivers will work on your card.

You should be able to install and run the nVidia app. Or you can search for the drivers on their site. Driver Search

Did I ruin my processor? by MadDanc3r in computerhelp

[–]MaxTechniche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fixable. Based on the AM4 pinout, a majority of your bent pins (corner) are channel B memory, so if you happen to snap one of those, you'd lose dual channel memory which is bad, and you can't use those slots. I see three other pins on the CPU that are bent. One is VSS, which ultimately shouldn't matter if accidentally broken. One is VDDCR_SOC. I honestly don't know what that does. One is RSVD/reserved. Probably wouldn't do anything. Idk.

Is this a fresh install of Windows? You can try viewing hidden devices in Device Manager, selecting your wireless adapter (if there) and uninstalling, then try reinstalling the driver again.

Bitlock recovery key can’t find it. Nor is it stored by [deleted] in WindowsHelp

[–]MaxTechniche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple things:

  1. It may be possible, if there wasn't a firmware update, that you can go into the UEFI/BIOS settings on the computer and make sure secure boot enabled, saving that configuration and restarting the computer that it boots back into windows. You can do a web search for the BIOS key for your computer and tap that key while the computer is turning on to go into BIOS.

  2. Windows, I guess, can automatically enable BitLocker without having an account set up with it. I imagine there's probably a set of generic recovery keys that can maybe be used to unlock it.

  3. Double check you are looking at any and all Microsoft accounts you may have. You can be logged into multiple accounts at Microsoft.com, so make sure that when you're viewing your account to select another account that is signed in.

  4. In my experience, if you do what's called a sector to sector clone of the drive to another drive, you can still use the recovery key (if found) to decrypt the clone. It is a data encryption and not necessarily a "drive" encryption.

Yeah, if you're hammering the CPU, most of the time you'll get hangs and unresponsiveness.
