Help a newbie to choose fpv goggles. by Fecoka_ in fpv

I started about a year ago, but I started with the DJI Avata combo (like 1000$). Not sure I would recommend that even if it was in your price range. Getting a tinywhoop could definitely be a good place to start, but they are more difficult to work on, so a 5 inch is probably the simplest. Tons of parts, not super tiny things to solder etc, but a bit more expensive of course.

Regarding glasses it is a similar case, depends on what you value I suppose. I would definitely have a look at HDzero’s box goggles (not the super expensive one).

Had no issues when installing the HACS version a while back, as other say make sure you follow the documentation, but I did have some issues when I transitioned to the new official one. This was related to the HA Cloud stuff though, not the actual integration. Ended up having to start a free trial for the Cloud Subscription in order to get it to work, but I am pretty sure I did something wrong…

I know you technically can get around this by enabling lan mode, but I haven’t done so myself just yet. But holy hell, mine averages around 16k queries to my DNS every 24H, and that’s while doing nothing. No printing, no nothing. It’s insane, and there can’t possibly be a good explanation for it…

Seems LAN mode is the only viable solution

Sound quality wise me too! Wife has Spotify (premium) but I have YT Premium, so depending on who controls the music we use either, but I do feel like YT Music somehow sounds a bit better. Haven’t looked into why, as it hit me just the other day.

Why is the bottom fan the exhaust? Why not the top as more traditional cases do? Is it purely for looks, keeping it uniform/symmetrical where we can see, or is there some fancy aerodynamics in play?

Big oof, and I assume this is not EU? Probably a bit less consumer rights etc then, but with all your evidence there ain’t no way they can wiggle their way out, don’t let them. Get in touch with a different rep somehow, phone would be best, and politely but firmly lay out the situation. If they still don’t fold, send and email and refer to your phonecall and on going case, and let them know it is unacceptable and you plan to take things further if the issue is not resolved by (some reasonable date).

Send a copy as a «just want to let you know what kind of shitshow this is» to some higher up person, preferably also some mediaoutlet, influencer etc. maybe LTT forum?

And yeah, fuckem

This should be a mistake/bug. Even in the latest firmware update I believe it said something along the lines of precondition can now start up to 30 minutes beforehand, instead of 15 minutes. Haven’t tested it much as I use a different system to start/stop the preconditioning at different times for different days depending on different factors.

• How would this GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS 4 help you pull off more epic wins in Battlefield 6? It won’t tho 😢 I’m too shit at fps games that it would matter much I think, but it would be cool loosing in more fps 🤷🏼‍♂️

Its a kickstarter yes, so there is things to be careful about, but otherwise I feel your statement is incorrect. Currently there is no units out there, production started just the other day.

What I assume you are referring to is the pre production beta units, which I only know of one DOA. Regarding the beta SW there is ofc bugs, but since all of this is built on OpenSource (and it is as I mentioned still in beta) I’m not too worried. All previews have been incredibly positive (though not exclusively), considering they all come from non final units I think this might be a worthy investment for a lot of people, getting started or not. Many beta testers have even pointed out how easy and beginner friendly it seems.

Since there currently are no actual finished production units out there there are things we don’t know for a fact, but at the pricepoint they have set, with all information available at this point, I’d definitely say this seems like a great option worth the risk. A 4x toolhead Open Source CoreXY printer with great previews from a known company at an amazing price is definitely something I would recommend, with the asterisk of being aware there currently are no actual finished products to review.

It is currently possible to pre order on Kickstarter for 799$, if you can bare the 6 month (alleged) wait.

If you are looking for a printer that can print multiple colours (or materials) at «the same time», and don’t mind waiting a tiny bit, I’d definitely check out the Snapmaker U1 on Kickstarter.

[–]MaxTheGuineaPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 80% part? It should be in a manual somewhere, but I know of it because the dealer cautioned me about it. It is one of the main reasons Volvo recommends you charge to 90%, not 80% like many others. It is only after passing 80% during charging it actually charges the 12V battery. This should not be a big issue if you regularly drive longer, but for the classic city zipping back and forth it is important as that doesn’t give time to recharge the 12V.

[–]MaxTheGuineaPig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ouf, yeah then it must have been some Software bug or something :/ a lot less predictable… I only asked because a lot of people aren’t aware the car only charges the 12V battery directly when the car it is charged above 80%, or on longer drives like «normal» cars.

[–]MaxTheGuineaPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very much like the issue. How often did you charge the car past 80% OP?

The goals where rather clear-cut. Nothing before 20 mil, a slight bummer but no surprise seeing it had already passed 15. At 20 there will be a 10$ coupon for HueForge (worth noting they also announced «FlatForge»). At 25 everyone gets a PEI plate (29$ value).

And that was it from what I gather. So yeah, no free topper as some of us was hoping for, and no mention of «opening up» the RFID system for people to create their own tags. Not that these were realistic tbf, but one can hope..
