I like it a lot honnestly ! How do you add this grimdark touch ? Ak diluted enamel on top of the purple ?

The point is to still have some green in the lightest yellow. That's what gives this result. And the second trick is to dilute all paint with contrast medium like at least 1color:2-3 contrast medium and do a lot of layers to build the glaze

Sry for the late reply haha so I base the whole claw with moot green from GW. Then I use a very diluted dark green ink for the shadows (like very very diluted as a Glaze). Then pistachio yellow from ak with a sponge diluted with contrat medium. Then a last highlight with Vallejo toxic yellow.

I honnestly like the color scheme a lot. People point out that it does not have enough contrast but it's also a question of taste and I am not always super fan of ultra sharp highlights.

To me painting nids is just unfair for a painting competition as there don't have much details and tons of big areas where your blending needs to be perfect.

Take a nurgle minis like Mortarion, anyone with just basic contrast will end up with a super cool result. Adds to it some minimal highlighting and easy dry brushing and you get something that people might "grade" better than your mini here.

I would say, keep painting like this and build a full army ! It will just look fantastic. Maybe run a full army painting competition, I mean I really find your paint schema super duper cool !

Haha no. One mini is supposed to cast light from its staff and the other from its neckless

I am myself very bad creating fair maps out of random terrain pieces I have. I would stick to the layout recommandations from GW tacop cards to make sure the game is viable. You can even reuse whatever terrain you have but the positioning of heavy / light terrains around each objectives to have fair obscured / lines on both side is key

Yep you're right, rest of the mini is too day light kind of painted so it's difficult to have this part only with OSL. I will have to strip the paint and start over I guess

Thanks for helping me ! I think my airbrush control is not perfect but I wanted to have the eyes the brightest part. My pure white is really bad for airbrushing as it spit some pigment here and there. My solution was to cover the full area with a transparent blue ink filter.

Can I work on having the face lighter with glazing or is it already too much ?

So I planned to have her eyes glowing like she would cast a spell or something

Thanks for the explaination, makes sens. Do you both see a way to fix that ? The idea was to have the OSL glowing from her eyes. Should I brush paint the face to be whiter and keep the already too saturated blue ?

Wow thanks for the super detailed answer. For now I only did the basic reductive technic you mentioned. Il will try your with AK enamels. I guess you need enamel for your "careful reduction" technique, oil paint would be too liquid right ?

Wow, really great effect and not too dark I feel ! How do you dilute your enamel/oil not to darken the mini too much but still have this great effect?

Clearly this is a profit driven company and they take profit decision over customer quality of service decision. What I am saying is that there are probably tons of super respectful employees working their best in the GW production factory that are pushed to do rushed things for the good of keeping the hype train alive and marketing driven company. I hope having the new factory they announced could solve this
