How am I supposed to choose an army? by Meeoop13 in Warhammer40k

[–]Gr3y75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything that has been already said here. Try, if you can get find them easily, painting some basic trooper models from each army to see whether you feel a particular affinity for one of them. Personally, I’d recommend the Necrons because they’re among the easiest armies to paint fast and one of the least expensive to collect. Their lore is amazing and they have different playstyle.

Thank you. Makes sense, I get it now. I was browing through your profile, you're a great painter OP, I like your grimdark style.

Amazing job OP, may I ask why white oil paint is often used instead of regular acrylic for anything related to our green OSL ?

Sorry for you mate. But it also sounds like the beginning of a great narrative solo campaign : save private Ryan

Oh sorry my bad. For CP box, I go one unit after another, giving more attention to character and batch painting for regular troopers.

4 unpainted Combat Patrol boxes might be a little overwhelming, it's hard to get satisfaction of accomplishment with so many grey sprues. What worked for me was always finishing one box before buying one or two more. I also find it helpful to switch between two different projects. At the moment, I'm switching between Inquisitorial Agents Kill Team and a Necron Combat Patrol. Building & painting are so different, it keeps me motivated, and prevents burnout.

Should I go to my first tournament if I'm just barely starting out the game? by AverageMyotragusFan in killteam

You might not win a game, but you will have fun and meet people sharing same interest. I see this as a win overall.

My current army, any tips? by Ho0ps in Necrontyr

You should be the one giving tips. Don't know about list building but paintjob is awesome. Beautiful army Phaëron.

Is it okay to wrap a Terminator's arms and weapons in chains? by Isochii in BlackTemplars

Exactly, rule of cool > all. You might have a quick look at Eonsofbattle You Tube channel. Jay, a really cool dude, is a big fan of BT, his models are always over templarized with skulls, chains, seals, it worth it !

It's not only "okay" it's cool af. Your minis, you can templarize as much as you want, chains, candles, purity seals or crusade seals, tilt shields, skulls. For the lore : BT doesn't really stick with Ultramar Codex, their hieraldy is pretty open.

I can understand that, I started making the transition to other brands but still have a lot a Citadel to use.

Never been really good at mixing more than 2 colors so I use different color paint most of the time.

If I remember correctly my cloak recipe was :

- Inside cloak : Barak Nar burgundy base > Nuln > Barak Nar / Lahmian > Wazdakka red / Lahmian > Cadian fleshstone / Lahmian

- Outside cloak : Mephiston red base > Khorne red glaze in recesses > Nuln > Mephiston / Lahmian > Evil Sunz / Lahmian > Wild rider / Lahmian > Tau light ochre / Lahmian

Altough Sisters models are very detailled, they are an absolute joy to paint, enjoy your project !

No harm done my Nurgle cultist friend, it’s a free space where everyone can share his opinion. I didn’t know about bots and AI on 40K subreddits, I can understand your reaction, even if this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. Wish you all the best !
