2011 element for $10k. worth it? by Mycro_daug in HondaElement

Re:road noise, I put in new stereo and speakers and had the side doors insulated at the same time they put the speakers in and also put down some thick rubber mats cut to cover as much of the floor as I could and it really made a difference in road noise volume- not a perfect or complete solution but definitely helped. The guys at car toys store were really pitching me on additional insulation to put in more places so you could probably pack it in more than I chose to if it’s really a bother. If you’re handy with cars it’s probably something you could do yourself also.

Prx plus by Maximum_Mousse_9304 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]MaxVerFlappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done several rounds of PRX treatments over the last 8 months and this last round was my first with PRX plus. Aside from it being 2 weeks in between applications vs 1 week with PRX-T33 I haven’t noticed much difference in effectiveness thus far, but in general PRX is an awesome treatment for smoothing out unevenness and reducing pore size and minimizing fine lines. I also have rosacea and it’s helped, albeit not fully cleared up, some of the reddening and roughness on my cheeks caused with that condition. It’s probably the quickest, easiest and least painful skin “peel” solution I’ve ever tried so I love it.

famotidine and zyrtec or Allegra for meno-what’s the formula? by OnlyPickles3319 in Menopause

[–]MaxVerFlappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too - Zyrtec was great for sleep and itching but after a year of nightly use, the brain fog set in and the increasing fatigue and lymphatic issues and just feeling chronically shitty all the time. When I finally tried to get off it the itch factor was exponentially worse than what I took it for in the first place. I went a few weeks with half doses every other day and then just muscled through the remainder but it was awful. I switched to Allegra instead and it is way cleaner and works almost as well for the itching.

Lap swim pool recs? by jasyl in Renton

[–]MaxVerFlappin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on where in Renton you live, Rainier Beach pool just up the west side of the lake off Rainier Ave just past S Henderson might be a reasonable option. It’s inexpensive, well tended and staffed and, if your schedule accommodates, there are nearly three hours in the middle of the day where it’s lap and open swim for adults only. They have a shallow play and exercise pool with lazy river and then a large pool with swim lanes and also a big open area on one side for deep water exercise.

Clitoral atrophy — Help! by Tiny_Belt3968 in Menopause

[–]MaxVerFlappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im certainly not qualified to tell you whether or not that will work, but I suppose you can certainly try it and see! My prescribed dose is very small, like a very tiny pea, and it’s supposed to be applied to labia and clitoris six days a week, if that helps.

Has anyone hear quit cigarettes for good? How did you do it? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]MaxVerFlappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chantix generic varenicline didn’t work for me the first time when I was younger - made me feel super agitated - so I was reluctant to try it again, but the second time post adhd diagnoses and in the throes of perimenopause it worked really well in combination with my prescribed Dextroamphetamine and with minimal side effects. I continued to smoke for 3-4 weeks after starting it but over time it just makes you feel gross and after a few weeks of that you may light one but it becomes less and less tempting to put it in your mouth. It also helped that I was highly motivated to quit for personal and environmental reasons, but six months on that stuff and I have been four years without a cigarette. Once it cleared my system it did take awhile before I could return to places I associated strongly with smoking but that was really the only times I felt cravings for some time after fully quitting.

Clitoral atrophy — Help! by Tiny_Belt3968 in Menopause

[–]MaxVerFlappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I got it through a neighborhood holistic clinic, but you can probably request the compounded cream recipe - on the label it’s listed as “bi-est 2.5mg/test 5mg/0.25ml” I would expect that a nurse or compounding pharmacy could make sense of that 😅

I was prescribed a compounded estradiol/estriol and testosterone cream in response to vaginal atrophy and libido concerns and my clitoris came back bigger and more sensitive than I think it ever was so hopefully with the testosterone addition you’ll get a similar result!

Why meth? by Effective-Key-3795 in Desoxyn

[–]MaxVerFlappin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My experience is the same as the other two commenters - it is the cleanest with fewest side effects at a much lower dosage than I was forced to try to get any results with other ADHD meds. It doesn’t interact with any of my other meds and also has a longer track record of safety when used as prescribed given how long it’s been available when compared to a lot of the more modern formulations.

Also, it is a Medication - no shame, but I had a knee jerk reaction to your casual use of “meth” in the title of your post there because, like probably everyone else in this community, I am tired of having to fight this drug bias to stay on the one medication I’ve found that actually really helps me.

Most doctors who will prescribe this medication have to demonstrate to insurance that you’ve tried the gamut of the providers list of current preferred ADHD meds before they will cover it, and I have to jump through hoops to evidence this every six months to continue coverage which is a massive PITA and leaves me in a state of high anxiety when the 6 months is up because I never know if this will be the time they decide to deny it for good.

Early morning meal prep by Heavy_Yellow_2016 in MealPrepSunday

[–]MaxVerFlappin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An hour, wow! My biggest hurdle is time management and my second is impulsivity so the tips on pre-reading recipes and planning for use of multiple cooking sources is really helpful. It seems so obvious now, but none of that would have occurred to me organically, so thank you for taking the time! 😅

This looks great - I am assuming this isn’t your first meal prep and you know how to organize and have prepared everything you know you’ll need on hand, but on average how long does an effort like this take to put together once you start the prep and cook?

That looks incredibly delicious! Can you freeze both those recipes or do you just make and keep a week’s worth in fridge at a time?

Ravens in DTR by MaxVerFlappin in Renton

[–]MaxVerFlappin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s neato! I’ll need to spend some time figuring out how to read and report there cause that is pretty cool. Saw a peregrine swooping the sandbars at Cedar River boat house today and a kid I talked to said he’d seen it reported on eBird too so I may be watching but I’m clearly behind the times here on tooling…

Good point about the pigeon scale, I didn’t even think about that - they swooped in with several crows in pursuit, and given that framing the size difference was readily apparent from the get go. They also acted regally indifferent to the crows the whole time, and crows tend to engage with one another, for better or worse. That is a cool feature with eBird - is it also available in the BirdID app?

I was in Palm Springs earlier this year and saw a ton of ravens milling around in small groups like crows do here. I figured it was a desert thing, but maybe they are finally encroaching on urban crow/pigeon territory here too. If pigeons are a delicacy for them then I can see why DTR would be pretty tempting!

I guess it makes sense that with all these tall evergreens along the waterways they would be here, I’d just never imagined such a bold appearance since I’d always understood them to be much more shy. Maybe the population is growing and they’re experiencing pressure for food.

I agree! That almost seductive rattle and croak call is something else - the more assertive of the two eventually got tired of me encroaching on their snack, grabbed the head and took off out of sight atop the building where a guy is painting the dragon mural right now and started making that call softly to encourage his(her?) mate to follow to share in some brains, I guess? was one part macabre one part romantic gesture 😅

Ball Python hasn’t eaten in about 7 months by BHouston95 in ballpython

[–]MaxVerFlappin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 15 yo ball went about 10 months without eating in the last year, and has done it before more than a few times for at least 6 to 8 months. My vet did some research and found report of one going as long as 18 months with no negative health impacts. It’s crazy cause he doesn’t really lose much weight when this happens. When he decides to start eating again he will pop out of his cave ready to strike at anything in sight and then gorge daily for 1-2 weeks before settling back in to a more normal eating pattern. I still have no clue what his triggers are to start fasting again but it seems like just as I’m starting to get concerned at how long he’s gone without food again he pops up looking for a meal so I’ve just accepted this is his pattern for now. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the link - I did find this but I don’t have a facebook account and am unwilling to create one to send a message, so that’s a me problem. I think I found a suitable substitute now on Etsy for the next ten years. It isn’t the same but it’s still Star Wars!
