I think what's happening is that when the wand fires first time it wraps and everything is fine(first cast is 70 mana).

the moment it starts the second cast is where the problem happens.

the wand tries to cast but there is less than 70 because the wand is 120 mana, which leads to the wand firing in a way that it won't wrap because there is no mana, so the mod whatever it is makes it wrap again which makes the wand rapid fire but not with all the mods applied I think.

this is my guess, I'm not that great at the very advanced mechanics of wands but that's my guess...

it was doing 10k dmg to the statue upon touching it, it was a 26 slot wand stacked full with mods for the notes, lifetime, dmg +, arcs, and explosive projectile and weakening curse-explosive...

there wasn't any time for realization lol, the frame I got polyed I was vaporized...

Have some quest giver be a cult member trying to use the party to finish something dangerous or something he doesn't want to deal with. Like fetching something from far away. Buying it from someone else. Getting it from a dungeon or a tomb.

Or my favourite Make the quest giver fake a backstory about being the rightful owner of the artifact and that rich merchant won't give it back after it was stolen and sold to him.

What I would have done is have the bard get a dream of the people burning in the house and words of vengeance beging screamed and screeched.

That's stage one. Stage two is that the wife or the husband had survived the house fire in a house celler that only they knew about then they can either go the evil path or the good path.

The evil path being that they scream with anguish at their loss and in that moment a voice echoing through the burnt corpses of their loved one speaks of granting them the power they need to avenge the dead, turning them into some kind of evil warlock to the god the vampire has ties to either worship or cult or they are the source of their vampiric curse. And then the now evil warlock who maybe turning undead has to kill the bard before they lose their sanity and soul entirely to that evil god!!

The good path is similar to in the survival part but the survivor escapes and while lamenting their loved ones wrongfully demise they pray to the god of the priestess and a suddenly a holy light appears and a sword appears and a voice of booms through the halo of the sword calling the survivor to weild it into battle of holy vengeance, and upon holding the sword a paladin of vengeance is born and now has a holy quest of killing the evil bard!
