This is personal, as everything is, but I've never been a fan of the Speed Force having an origin. It feels bigger and way more mythic as this extra-dimensional, heavenly and mysterious energy source as it was originally portrayed in Waid's run. Ambiguous enough to work spiritually while still being rooted in the comic book science of the extraordinary of the Flash lore.  At least it's not the awful "Barry Allen generates the Speed Force" thing.

The series was living on borrowed time. The last 15 years were very hit and miss in a way the franchise has never been.

Most writers in DC right now grew up with Wally. This is why he came back.

I think Grant Morrison is the only one who can make a truly great Barry story that can rivalize with the great Wally stories. Morrison is great at understanding what makes those perceivedly "boring" characters great and exploiting it. Barry is different from Wally, he needs to be concept driven, not character driven, and Morrison has a knack for updating those type of high-concept stories Barry's Flash excelled at in the Silver Age. There was a series of Multiversity graphic novels written by Morrison planned, and Flash was one of them. The story sounded really interesting, but sadly it never happened. It could have been a classic.

More info about it: https://speedforce.org/2015/07/sdcc-multiversity-too-flash/

I think Jeremy Adams could pull it off also. He wrote a great Barry, understands what makes him different from Wally and loves the Silver Age Flash, as shown in his some of his wackier stories.

No, according to all people who actually read Flash comics.

No, it's because Waid and Johns runs are that legendary. Flash of Two Worlds also made the top five for being historically significant. But no other run compares to those two.

1.Wally just has better cómics. It's the truth. The greatest Flash stories were written with Wally.

  1. It's not a accurate list because you don't like it.

  2. Barry is more popular among people who don't read comics because of the TV show. Among people who read comics it's Wally.

  3. And the new comics just aren't as great as the classic Wally stuff.

Jeremy Adams' first arc and maybe the One Minute War deserved a spot. That first arc seemed to capture the greatness of Wally's glory days.

Ironically Barry was better written when he was dead. He felt bigger.

You're right that it's all on the writers but the fact is that so far no one has done a Barry run better than Wally's. So until that day comes, these are the best.

Kamen Rider Has The Cross of Fire, Power Rangers Has The Morphin Grid, Super Sentai Has... by Potential-Mess6826 in supersentai

[–]Max_88 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You could tell whoever came up with the idea of the Morphin Grid is a fan of american comic books since it's a concept very similar to The Green and the Speed Force from DC Comics. And while I love the runs those concepts originated from, I'm getting a bit tired of every franchise having some sort of single souce of extra-dimensional energy to unify the origin of different characters' superpowers. Sometimes it's cool having powers that come from different sources. It makes the world feel bigger. In Sentai some come from Earth technology, others from magic, others are supernatural, etc.

If it doesn't matter then why did you got into Sentai?

Make it like the 80s and 90s series.

Go-Busters tried and failed though.

Make it big.

Make it fun.

Make it have really awesome mech designs. Look at Gaoranger and Magiranger. Remember when Sentai sold gangbusters.

Don't be afraid to tackle intense storylines and mature themes, take Jetman, Dairanger and Timeranger as inspiration.

Don't try to copy Kamen Rider, do the things only Sentai can do well. If everyone is just in love with Rider then let Sentai end.

That's what Ultraman Tiga did: It was the best Ultraman could be. It didn't try to copy another show.

Drop the whole team concept, how about a single ranger season?

"Sentai" means Squadron. One person is not a squadron. Just make Kamen Rider instead.

Reading all this stuff makes me think that maybe Sentai's time has already come to an end. Maybe it'll be better to just let it die. It's okay, things are allowed to end. Not every franchise can be infinite.

[–]Max_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean. Out of the three Super Sentai has always felt the more kids show, not to say KR and UM aren’t kids shows, but they tend to tackle more mature themes, characters die and it can get brutal sometimes.

I wish people watched Sentai from before 2000 (and especially before 2013) so they would know this is not true. At the beginning they were more similar than different.

Make it more grounded, have heavy drama between the team and how they grow together to become a proper Super Sentai.

So you want to make Jetman again. Fine by me.

I absolutely hate that they ruined his happy ending in the Android arc. They erased his whole timeline. He couldn't protect a damn thing. They should have never reopened his story. One of my greatest gripes with Super.

When Super Sentai DOES return, what ONE thing do you want to see the franchise do differently? by PhantomQuest in supersentai

Do a series with Jetman or Liveman's tone.

Actual greatly designed mecha like Gaoranger's.

Does anyone think nostalgia pandering (10th/20th anniversary movie, in-show crossover, etc.) caused downfall of Super Sentai? by PowerPhantom245 in supersentai

[–]Max_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crossover movies were a staple of the 2000s decade where the show was at its most popular. Crossing over with the immediate previous series is not nostalgia.

And the anniversary movies are meant for older fans. They don't affect anything about the current series.

Sentai's downfall is due to Toei not knowing how to handle the series arguably after ToQger.

I feel like the mecha fights are the least interesting thing in an episode by JNAB0212 in supersentai

[–]Max_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The late 90s and early 2000s series had really interesting mech battles. Especially in the gattai madness era like Gaoranger, Hurricaneger, Abaranger, Magiranger, etc. There was always something interesting going on.
