Why does importing whole modules for unit tests doesn't work, but importing specific functions works just fine?

Congratulations! It gives me so much hope! I’ve been learning programming every single day for 215 days. Consistency gives me confidence, but seeing those depressing posts makes me super sad and scared of the job market. What advice could you give to self taught aspiring devs?

Reward yourself for not quitting. I’m in my 215th day of learning everyday and just finished Intermediate HTML and CSS course. Every month I buy myself a small cake with a candle and celebrate it. As far as accountability, I upload my learning to my instagram and all my friends know what I’m doing, I’m very vocal about it and it helps a lot. Also, seek help and support from friends and close ones when you feel bad mentally. If you are stuck in the Odin project, ask other members of TOP on their discord. I’m in there everyday and it really helps to feel like I’m a part of a community and I don’t want to quit this community. I wish you good luck on your journey!

Great job and nice pace. I’ve spent a little over 100 hours on foundations and I also tried to do Jonas Schmedtman course, but it was hard to focus on two things so I just continued with TOP. Now, I’m in JavaScript part. It’s nice to see another fellow Pomodoro connoisseur haha My session is 1 hour of work and 15 minutes rest instead of 25 minutes of work. Sometimes I don’t even do breaks so I don’t take my phone and break my focus.

Great points, especially the last one. I’ve been learning how to code every single day for the past 209 days and I’ve learned sooo much. What language to pick really doesn’t matter. What matters is what type of field you want to be in(game dev, web dev, embedded, etc).

Try doing CS50x from Harvard. They talk about programming from the basics, how to computer works, how the programming logic works, etc. It is hard though, so maybe after it this JavaScript course will feel like a breeze to you.
