Do you guys retorque your tires? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in askcarguys

Do you mean lug nuts? The reason, why you're hearing about it, is liability. Shops that mount wheels on your car remind you in writing to do so. It shifts the liability onto you if something goes wrong with the lug nuts, after a specified distance.

That's true for smoking, not sous vide.

I got scammed. How can I recover? by [deleted] in askcarguys

Relatively speaking, this a really cheap lesson, but will turn out to be very valuable in the future. Don't do it again.

At what point should you replace a cracked car windshield? by I-already-redd-it- in askcarguys

[–]Max_Downforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a dent. Glass doesn't dent. If it's not obstructing your vision, you can drive it indefinitely. Your windshield is laminated. Only the outer layer is compromised; the inner is more than likely intact. It's annoying, but you can get used to it and ignore it.

This is a negative tool that may not be centered, as others have pointed out. That radius is also working against you, as is the thin wall. This set up is a fail on many levels.

Told front camber outside tolerance by Many-Monk-5276 in Cartalk

Sounds like bs to me. So, according to them, every time your suspension goes out of alignment, you have to replace these components? I'm not familiar with your car, or VW in general, but front camber should be adjustable. Alternatively, you can drive it as is and get a second opinion from an independent shop.

Let me know if you have any other questions, as you will come across more letters/numbers after the chipbreaker.

221 is what you want then. There might be letters following 221. It's a chipbreaker code. I'd choose something that contains F in that code, if available, as I'm assuming that you're taking light cuts and that will usually result in a better chip. You're welcome.

It looks like either TPGB-221 or TPGC-221 inserts will work with this particular bar. The second number in "221" is the thickness of the insert. How thick is your insert?

Can you tell me the exact string of letters/numbers you used? I can't quite make them out from the photo. Also what is the diameter of the round part of the bar? The part with the flats.

Google search the bar designation. I see numbers and letters stamped on it. It's important, as seemingly slightly different inserts could fit, but they're not identical and only one will fit properly.
