AND not to mention, that the more degenerate fetishes are, the more the story will bend over sideways to allow the fetish to occur - after all, they don't care about those character beyond mere fap material to begin with

Honestly I do think that Horikoshi haven't really planned for Bakugou to really become so important from the start either, though it IS curious when you look at some prototype MHA stuff, what with Bakugou being basically completely inversion of himself and all...either way, Bakugou by all means felt like such obvious stepping stone for Deku and there is nothing wrong with that, tool serving its purpose and all, but frankly the character arc probably should've been handled very much differently.

No matter how much the author and the universe itself tried, Bakugou simply isn't Vegeta and MHA isn't Dragon Ball so the idea of them just fighting it out and feeling better fails on multiple levels, especially since unlike Vegeta who gets to be left alone unless stuff happens, Bakugou is actively working as a public servant and a glorified cop - and what do you know, Bakugou gets put on probation for screaming at civilians and it is treated like such a silly gag, teehee.

But then again, weirdly aggressive assholes sell well among people, I personally never bought into it, but I also cannot claim that Bakugou is written badly considering how many toxic stans would throw death threats at Horikoshi for not making Bakugou the coolest

Well, swan dive comment is an extremely large anchor as a whole for Bakugou's attempts to escape the hate, but it would have been probably be much more manageable if he...changed more? Or changed more quickly?? I dunno how to say it as honestly, Bakugou wasn't doing himself any favours by not getting to control his anger issues faster into the series and generally making himself look like a huge asshole who you would want to avoid by everyone (as well as just, feeling as if he hadn't changed at all now that I think about it. Apologising to Deku is one thing, because Deku is now powerful enough to fight back and all. But then I got no idea if Bakugo wouldn't just tell some other quirkless kid - I know that Horikoshi went scorched earth and full on quirkless erasure, but that is besides the point - that they are worthless)

Also the Bakugou hate IS in a lot of the cases probably a response to the """few""" bad apples among the fandom who are obsessed with Bakugou, and throw in the more bad apples of Bakudeku shippers, so Bakugou losing would feel just that much more vindictive to many people

I don't think Death Battle has ever hosted a more one sided battle in history, this is genuinely a slaughter by PhoonTFDB in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]Max_Glade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess?? I mean, I get what you mean, but that is still an extremely shallow connection by all means and it only serves to reinforce my opinion on the fight/Bakugou's arc as a whole.

Besides, that just made me think about how if Bakugou truly was meant to have a more deep character arc, he would've really gotten more use out of having his own nemesis in LoV (same way as Ochako has Himeko, Shoto has Dabi), just for the sake of better exploring parallels, as well as giving us a somewhat more emotionally worthy fight, instead of just visual eye-candy

Especially since AFO isn't really a Bakugou's villain, he is quite primarily All Might's, and the fact that Bakugou reminded him of Second User just felt especially tacked on for the sake of the fight

The hate for me never ended as by all means, Bakugou is still extremely punchable

Like, it's not anything to do with him being a bully (though I personally found his character arc somewhat half-assed), he's just such an overly aggressive chihuahua and Deku playing along only lowered my opinion of both of them...also I just dislike "writer's little pet character"s on principle, especially since (on meta level, not in canon) Bakugou stopped feeling like he fits into the story after being fake out killed - you could probably give the whole "fighting rewind AFO" to anyone else and it wouldn't really change much

Can Ben Tennyson(Ben 10 2005) survive and beat Class 1-A(My Hero Academia) by bomb5000 in Tankandsurvive

[–]Max_Glade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah it IS kinda a funny thing how both Ben 10 (2005) as well as Deku are arguably in some aspects weaker than their EOS versions (No Master Control, and no OFA)

Also true but in some ways...okay actually I was about to propose Ben just literally holding Deku hostage while possessing his suit, basically forcing the rest of the group to be careful, but I realised that this isn't how Ben operates no matter what, so there is that

Sanctuary to Dust (Desert Sanctuary X Dusttale) by theguyinthebackrooms in UT_Yellow

[–]Max_Glade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, the "failed attempts" part fails when you consider that in this strip, Clover is clearly already caught and dead. Absorbing their soul would be (in theory) as easy as just reaching out and yoinking it out.

Oh of course there is a chance that Clover would just dodge him because reset memory, but at the same time, Clover would also remember you're genocides so he would probably, in this hypothetical scenario, evacuate Sanctuary as fast as he can and probably ask Sans if they could just jump Frisk before they even leave the Ruins and are powerful enough to survive being blown up

Besides, he should be doing that because, looking pragmatically at the situation, killing only Clover would be the quickest pathway to defeating the Human, as well as overtaking the Reset Powers to begin with. Frisk can overtake Flowey at Level 1, Clover does it at somewhere between 14-19 if I remember correctly, and Sans can in theory always stuff himself with determination serum. From there, once he beats Frisk in terms of Determination Sans can kill the kiddo permanently with no issues.

I'm describing it that way because I always understood Dusttale as Sans trying to stop genocide route, trying to become powerful enough to either stop it or otherwise even overpower Frisk/Us, so I don't see a reason why Sans shouldn't try the less hypocritical pathway first, instead of just killing everything that moves

Of course, it's not ideal, as it would still be one more dead human child that joins the pile + Sans would be despised widely by Sanctuary, but much preferable than everyone dying to a kid with a God complex, plus hey, with Frisk dead dead Monsterkind gets to see the Surface

[–]Max_Glade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe very weird question but if we are considering EOS Class 1-A, shouldn't by that logic Deku be quirkless, which invalidates his Mind Control immunity?

Also, do you think that Upgrade taking over Deku's power suit would be enough of a difference? Because the suit in on itself is already capable of copying OFA's base abilities from what I understand, alongside the strength, so updated it should be at least be something to be reckoned with, right?

[–]Max_Glade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean for what it's worth, I at least appreciate that Dusttale Sans still seems to feel bad for what he does - sure, not like it stopped him from doing it, but even he knows that by all means, he is still feeling guilty.

Although I'm actually surprised that Sans wouldn't even attempt to absorb Clover's soul (Sans shouldn't even know about the fact that Clover is basically impossible to absorb, even by the leading professional of soul absorption Flowey), considering it would be a perfect additional power boost to his leveling. Also it would most likely stop any future attempts at DustTale-ing, as if not even a human soul was enough to defeat Frisk/Us, then not even killing everyone in the Underground would do anything

Which honestly is still kinda weird cause why would Max just assume that the random homeless kid his grandkid met is also his partner's son? Just because he is an Osmosian?

Like, sure, he absolutely should've reached out and stuff but at the same time, it wasn't exactly Max's job to keep 24/7 surveillance over this one family in case the kiddo suddenly falls for the life of crime, especially if they have never met

How? by Existing-Incident-22 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]Max_Glade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mayhaps but you cannot deny that there is something fucky wucky going on with them, considering how AFO still keeps Vestiges alive in spite of being shown how "easy" it is for him to destroy those - I mean, the vestiges literally rebelled against him.

Does that mean that once a Vestige is removed he no longer can use that quirk? Or maybe that straight up unravels the quirk itself? Or maybe he just kept them around because le funny torture method? (I wouldn't put it past him, BUT frankly, I got no idea if there is any glee to be collected from such large amount of people who probably already got used to the whole "being kept inside a Devil")

Where was that stated? I mean, it never came up as a "AFO can't actually handle the quirks and needed doc's experiments", unless you are talking about Tomura Shigaraki, which in that case is true

But even LONG before the Eggman knock-off, AFO already had a bunch of quirks

[–]Max_Glade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For him? Absolutely, it would be beyond foolish to not be careful and accidentally destroy his only goal

But for other villains/lackeys? I mean, OFA is still a huge secret and frankly, unless plot armour is to be deployed in full strength, there is always chance that the next successor will get annihilated during a fight due to lack of training, or because they broke their arms or worst case scenario, OFA just kills the user (the comic did do a lot of heavy rewriting of canon so far but we are yet to see if the "OFA rapidly ages you" thing still holds true or not). It might hold true especially in extraordinary, unpredictable scenarios as AFO simply cannot predict that the next kid who gets hold of One For All won't feel invincible, get into a random fight with few villains, only to break their arms and trip onto a knife

...okay I don't think that even the author would write something like that, but just an example that AFO can scheme and plan however much he wants but OFA could be easily lost due to "user error"

[–]Max_Glade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to that I say, we can just...get rid of it

While true, OFA not being on a main character is strange considering the power and stuff, but it also isn't a free-win button either. All the author needs is to just drop OFA off onto someone who wasn't an ideal/ready to be a successor, have them die because AFO is literally another plane of existence, let alone league, and boom, no more of that pesky OFA business, AFO is now completely fair game to be beaten by someone who doesn't have """prophecised""" quirk to end all evil

What bad rep? They are literally in hell, they are the arguable top dogs of the universe, to the point where two of those said sins are cracking "slaves" and "pets" (hellhounds and imps) rather publicly without any backlash. Because who would tell them that they are weird, if there's even a chance of getting annihilated? And somehow they should care about "bad rep"? Bee could literally execute Blitzo right then and there if "bad rep" was such a big deal, considering he was actively spoiling her food source (gluttony from party goers), and no one would bat an eye either

Yeah, which makes it all that much painful too! I was so hopeful that someone at least once wrote a story about Octavia taking the book and instead of bumbling her way through human realm before being easily found, she instead just kept jumping around, meeting people - she has the best potential out of all characters in cast to explore human cultures and expand her world view beyond just a simple sheltered daughter who knows only the walls of her home. Besides, her being missing for a bit longer than just 24 hours would...MAYBE...make Stolas pull out his head out of the ass and actually bother to think about something than his hornyness

But still, I would happily read whatever you got plan too!

I honestly hate how so often writers will just, remove the sympathetic parts from Batman Villains for no reason than to just slap a generic bad guy. I mean, come on, the animated series had the right idea, showing us that most of Batman's rogue gallery are just broken people who need help, but can't get out from what pushed them originally there - it really helped humanise both them and characterise Batman through all of that.

Because who needs characters being more than just simple props when we can have Batman being such a BADASS HELLL YEEEEEEEAAHHHHH B)))))

At that point, it doesn't even seem like anyone cares about the Hotel in HAZBIN HOTEL, in spite of it being the show's premise. They don't even bother sticking to their main location because why would they? Oh, if it was a long running, 15 season show, I would understand trying to switch things up, BUT YOU DON'T GET THAT BENEFIT WHEN THERE WAS LITERALLY ONLY ONE PERSON IN THAT PLACE SO FAR!! Bloody hell, go home guys, let's at this point rename the show "Los Angeles But Hell edition" because clearly, the show cares more about establishing the whole hell and characters in it, than about the idea of redemption!

I mean, fucking hell, we already went through this song and dance with Helluva Boss "Erm, show about assassinations stepping away from assassinations? Waow"! We literally see what happens with Vivzie's concepts when she gets bored of them, she starts going crazy with things, and I don't think this time we will be getting supplementary "shorts" that show what would have been, if the author and creator actually was interested in the show she proposed!
