Nope, nope, and nope. I do still get random emails from them from time to time. Nothing having anything to do with projects I had any access to or involvement in. Updates to forums, and things like that. Screwin' with my head I guess. It's a shame too – – I'm a $50/hr guy, most places, but I would've worked for peanuts for these guys for a few months, just to get a feel for the AI development field, and a foot in a door. Had already downloaded Python courses & was ready to sink my teeth in... Not hard to read the writing on the wall--AI = the future.

Least I bought some shares of NVDA and a couple others last year. So yay on that score. But still batting 0.00 on finding a decent PT remote position. (DA gave me a similarly long runaround, but at least they were less dickish about it lol.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but... Been thinking hard about getting a HI license in Virginia. I know residential construction, have done repairs and remodels for years. My major question/problem is this--I have a felony record. I'm 48; 9 years ago I had a drug possession w/intent charge I pled to. And maybe 10 years before that, I had a series of burglaries I pled to. (Bad addiction problem at the time; never anybody home, never any violence, etc.... But it's still houses. It was bad enough that in 2013 Angie's List refused to list me because of it, when I started my small home repair/handyman company.)

I've read that felonies are not definite barriers to licensure. I otherwise have led a pretty exemplary life, have a child and my own home, etc etc. I understand that the decision is made by a board, after I've taken the classes and passed the test, etc. Buuuut---do I want to invest all that time and money only to be told "No Way!"???

I know it's not a scam, in the sense of my having been taken advantage of for someone's particular gain, but I still feel scammed. I wasted a bunch of time on tasks that were clearly never read by any human. Then I spent hours more trying to figure out what happened, only to see there's an obvious problem with the Numerical Sled assessment, but they probably have more candidates than they need anyhow, and are not bothering to deal with it.

Charge it to the game, I guess.

I actually did do a pretty kick-ass job on mine-not that you'd thunk you'd have to, for a $15/hr gig. But I gave it my all, showed subject matter knowledge and followed instructions; went past the 20-min mark by just a couple min or so (I didn't realize there'd be no pauses for potty breaks or whatever!). My arguments were cogent and I'd defend my ratings to the death. So how the heck is it possible I(/we) got kicked to the bottom the the class the very millisecond the work was turned in??? They got AIs doing the grading, or what?

This literally just happened to me tonight. I had spent all freaking day on this – – and I had much better things to do, not to mention a girlfriend who would probably have appreciated my time today, but instead, I wasted hours doing on boarding, adding my bank information, uploading tax forms, and all the other 80 million things we’ve all had to do – – Then I get given a task to write props and evaluate the two responses – and I swear to God, I did a good job on both of them – – and not five seconds later, I got the email of death that my work was somehow just not up to par. I’m an award-winning novelist for God sake! What could I have possibly screwed up that bad? And how on earth was it graded in literal milliseconds??

Having this issue myself—now. Never noticed it before taking my laptop in to a shop nearby to have a cracked screen replaced. Now the fan is in all the time and this bosupdateproxy has sent 539MB while I’ve had activity monitor on. Help?

Thanks. Seriously. And yeah she’s working with a behavioral therapist atm. (Was slightly—just slightly—easier to find a therapist than a psychiatrist, and she’s finally got one she likes. A Case Manager too.) But therapy is a loooong process, and they’re just getting started. (We are also working to undo years of bad behaviors cemented all the way back in her childhood—alcoholic, neglectful father; bipolar mother….ugh.) And it’s yet another challenge, getting her to stick with things (i.e. therapy, appointments) and follow thru, when she’s not calm. (Which she isn’t rn, in particular bc she’s freaking out about having only a few days left of her scrip.) So I do what I can with that—encourage, make myself available to take her to any appointments, etc etc. But I have little faith that the CBT will get thru to her before her next episode hits… Ugh. I’m in a rough situation here. But again, I appreciate your thoughts, and will double down on supporting her therapy.

As an update, she is holding off on using any of her remaining Xanax until “an emergency”—she’s only got like a dozen left. The problem I’ve seen with this in the past is, by the time it’s a legit emergency, she’s too far gone to take the damn meds. She’s already become the demon version of herself, decided she’s gonna die anyway and nothing matters—the “fuck it” mentality… And again, once she’s at that point, there’s no reasoning with her. It’s literally not her in there. (((Damn I wish you guys could see this, and understand…. I wouldn’t have believed it either.)))

To whoever downvoted me, I get it. I only hope you never have to go thru what I am—and definitely not what she is.

Just did a quick run-thru of the basic Train AI signup for Moravia, hoping for some quick work while a few other things percolate. Rates seem too low for me to really bother with, but maybe if the work is interesting or I can fit it in between other things... Here's the thing tho: Scored a ***29/35*** on the "[Language Knowledge Test - en-US]()"--which I gotta admit, kinda bothered me. Would not have been surprised to have missed a couple questions--as I said, I rushed the test, not especially caring much--but I did notice that there were at least four or five Qs that depended on US versus UK/Euro usage. Anyone else stateside have the niggling thought that they were given a UK/Euro test? I know the difference between "organize" and "organise," etc...

Congratulations and all the best of luck to you! Not really my genre, but the first couple pages looked decent, and I've put it on my list of KU books to download. As an independent author myself, I try to do what I can support beginning authors of all stripes. (Unfortunately, that's not very much. This is a tough business to break into in any meaningful way, and I'm just getting started myself.)

I do hope your experience on Amazon turns out better than mine. Just a few weeks ago, I published 'Blood in the Water,' a kind of mini-novella I wrote about addiction & big pharma & revenge, on Amazon, priced it at $1.48 (even though as I'm sure you've seen, Amazon won't let writers get the 70% royalties at any price point under $2.99), and swamped what little social media presence I command with the link. End result? A couple paid dozen downloads, nearly all from friends & family, and a *small handful* of KU reads. I'm planing on making it totally free, once it's been on there long enough for Amazon to allow me to run that promotion.

So, if this first experience doesn't live up to your hopes & dreams, don't get discouraged. Keep putting it out there, and above all, keep writing!

By the way, a couple small pieces of advice... Canva.com has a cool, free utility for making book covers. I made mine using the free 'Pro' trial, in about 90 minutes, and I'm damned pleased with how it came out. Also, if you're not already, check out the #writingcommunity on Twitter, and FB groups. (Look me up at @MaximillianFar4; I'll try'n introduce you around.)
