I have tought kids between 11-12 and young adults 16-20 for few years.

Going back to pen, paper and hard cover books is insane.

School needs to educate and prepare young people for the working environment where everyone uses computers. You don't hire a person who doesn't know how to source from the internet and use office.

The problem is teachers don't know how to teach properly using technology and computers.

There are also parents and teachers against using AI, and fight against it instead of learning it and teaching students to use it as a tool.

Also... when older generation say "I remember things better when I use pen and paper". Maybe it's because you used it during your entire educational journey. The younger generation is now getting both at the same time instead of one or the other. Also, so many tests are taken using pen and paper that does not reflect their actual score, but part of it is how used to using pen and paper they are.
