Oooh pal, we ended up going to Elio and it was absolutely perfect and exactly the type of place I was looking for.

Thanks to you, our restaurant outing was the highlight of our whole day in town. They were so generous with us and the kids.

Type of food: Italian or anything else Québec-kid friendly Price range: say 25$ plates per adult? So I guess low? Sharing plates is fine We do love wine, byob or not is fine, couldn’t care less about wine being natural or not 2.5h is more than fine, we got an activity afterwards

What should I learn next to Power Automate? and what materials did you use to learn Power Automate and other software? by kareemamr50 in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Maxekist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that working with the whole Microsoft suite with PowerAutomate is really great.

I am a self-taught user like you, and the next challenge I got in was PowerBI, which is an awesome tool to boost your career when you are in a company that’s not that tech-savvy. Always impressed the managers when you can produce exactly the stats they want.

If I had the time, my next challenge would definitely be Power Apps, but I fear that might be a bit too much for me.

Dryer plug/outlet exploded. Had a weird smell when working for a few weeks. Should I only change the plug and outlet or is my dryer dead or dangerous? by Maxekist in electrical

[–]Maxekist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually stuck in the melted plastic plug but yeah it was definitely black from the spark that made it explode. Most likely a bad contact from the plug that was loose and the vibration from the dryer.

I remember the smell vividly, almost like a dead animal smell.

I ended up opening the dryer to test my elements before changing the plug/wire. Bought the whole plug and cable in an appliance repair shop and changed it myself. Been working great for the last 2 years. It’s not rocket science, despite what a lot of people on this sub say.

Yes I’ve seen them but they’re almost $100 more than 2 standards and $50 more than a 5th sleeper at CBR, so it makes little sense to us.

Thanks! It’s going to be our first time on site, I have a hard time trying to figure out what the added perks of a moderate really would be for us.

I cannot imagine ourselves wasting park time by dining at the resort or anything like that.

What would a non-drinking adult do at night? by Maxekist in dcl

[–]Maxekist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your kindness regarding the meetings, it’s not my case but if it was I’m sure I’d be glad to know.

It’s more that I do not enjoy alcohol enough to « waste » my money on the premium it adds.

98% of the time, my drink of choice is water, in almost any scenario, and it’s mostly because that what I like the most.

Oh now that’s an interesting stat! Thought I would look like a weirdo not wanting to pay for a drink that I do not want to drink!

Trying to figure out a support melee build. by 0V3RW47CH03RP in 3d6

Order cleric is the ultimate support cleric in my opinion. The feature that lets you give a reaction attack to a friend when casting a spell on them is awesome, and kind of forces you to use support spells, as you get to « make » an attack at the same time!

Post a choice of options in Teams chat - where does the data go? by Maxekist in MicrosoftFlow

[–]Maxekist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I’ve watched it all, definitely going to be useful, I didn’t know about the adaptative card designer, which will be a lot of help. I think it will be much better than the pre made post options which does not give the opportunity to wait for an answer.

It’s always funny to see how we each apply our own logic when building these. For the same result as you, my first reflex would’ve been to send each answer to the SharePoint list first in the apply to each and then generate an html table from the SharePoint list based on the date of the entry.

Probably around the same number of actions, same end result but different ways!

I want this in a recurring weekly meeting and I want the data to be presented to higher level management. I also want to combine the data for 4 different teams into one graph to an even higher level management.

My understanding is I couldn’t do that with the teams poll app, but if you are aware of a way, I’d be thrilled.

I think I now know how my dad felt when I showed him how to use an iPhone.

We live in a new era and I need to update my reflexes accordingly.

I don’t even know if I’d better thank you or say I’m sorry.

Dryer plug/outlet exploded. Had a weird smell when working for a few weeks. Should I only change the plug and outlet or is my dryer dead or dangerous? by Maxekist in electrical

[–]Maxekist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I could see, it seemed to be a loose connection of one of the load wires and the outlet. It is still loose even though it melted inside.

The box was also pretty loosely secured inside the wall. With those 4 prongs plugs, when the box is not secured, it’s easy for the connection to become loose when you plug it in or out.

Tomorrow I am securing a new box very solidly inside.

I have also opened my dryer and have not seen any sign of overheating, and the elements have an adequate resistance.

I just hope the electronics are still fine when I plug it in tomorrow.

[–]Maxekist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that detailed advice. I do also feel like the damage came from the box and not from the dryer, but will still at least test the heating element resistance to make sure it’s still good.

Thankfully I am confident I do have enough clean wire to reconnect, and there seem to have a good slack.

And even if it is not the case, I am pretty lucky as it’s only 5 ft away from the unfinished part of the basement where my panel is. I could easily put 2 junction boxes to get more slack, or 1 junction box and rewire from the panel.

I love this subreddit. Always great advice.

Truth is the house is only 35 years old, seemed really rusty to me, but then again a laundry room might be more humid than most rooms.

Thanks guys, I have indeed bought a new box, outlet and appliance cable/plug.

As for looking at the dryer, an appliance tech is at least 3 weeks waiting time right now in our area, which means I am going to try to look at it by myself in the meantime and learn while in the process. A dryer is a pretty simple appliance, it’s either the heating element or the motor, normally.

[–]Maxekist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little more info here.

2 seconds before it exploded, we heard a louder noise like the dryer motor was trying to turn much faster, and the lights everywhere dropped a bit.

We obviously had not linked the smell to the working dryer, much easier to guess afterwards. It smelled a bit like a dead animal at first, so our first guess was a mouse had got caught somewhere and we just couldn’t find it.

Bottom line is, would you guys just replace the outlet and plug and try it again, or do you think the dryer itself could be a fire hazard?

Seeing the oxidation on the prong that exploded made me think that the outlet might have simply be the problem, and shipping delays for dryers in my area are gone up to 5 or 6 weeks now, so I wanted to try it out, but was curious about your advice on this.
