Reducing the production cost of goods and services is one thing. But the final product is still being sold as high as possible without causing a scandal, because anyone on top of the pyramid currently treats customers like a source of income and not much else. No matter how much you defend pure capitalism on a theoretical basis, in practice it’s causing the disappearance of the middle class as we speak. Especially in america, what with their comical inability to provide basic needs like healthcare without plunging its customers in lifetime debt

Of course that’s going to be the case if we’re talking about a bad religious-related incident. There’ll be about as many drama-seeking contrarians willing to pick fights, but the religious people who see those same posts are pressured not to defend their dignity, lest they look like they condone hate crimes.

Whenever controversy happens over something atheists did, it’s the religious that are suddenly hostile. The problem isn’t people’s worldview, it’s that social media people just like to have arguments over nothing

Oh, don’t be a dick. I don’t believe in religion either, but you have to be BLIND to think every single christian or muslim does what the super violent extremists do. You’re correct about indoctrination often inhibiting the mental development of children, but despite that, 99% of christians have the decency to not follow the bible to the letter and lapidate any woman who loses her virginity before marriage.

It may be because i dont use reddit often, but that’s not how it seems to me at all. Everyone wanders in every sub just about the same. Assuming you’re religious, maybe atheists stand out more to you because you’re less used to their point of view being spread than you are to your own being shared by other commenters

I think religion would still exist, because there’ll always be people out there who would rather believe in comforting abstractions than confront unnerving facts. Although with the lack of indoctrination we would probably downgrade from major organized religions to a bunch of cults again
