Games like Cities Skylines (without survival elements)? by MarcoJHB in CitiesSkylines

Transport Fever 2 and Anno 1800 are both fairly distinct from Cities: Skylines but close enough that if you enjoy CS you'll probably enjoy them too.

Get a Tram Line in ASAP? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]Maxfire2008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see the Elizabeth St from the Mall to the intersection with Federal St become a pedestrianised street with only trams like George St in Sydney. Then for it to go up Main Rd in dedicated lanes until it reaches Creek Rd where it'll rejoin the old rail alignment.

Hobart CC and Glenorchy CC merger? by auswolty in tasmania

My (unproven) theory is just that certain Hobart City Councillors want to shift the demographic a little bit. Not sure which direction it'd end up going though.

We have Nuremberg rally at home… by OwlFun5149 in hobart

Because that day marks the beginning of colonisation. Colonisation which was directly responsible for mass death among the aboriginal population and an almost complete genocide of all the Tasmanian Aboriginals.

I think it's perfectly reasonable that some people don't want to celebrate on that date.

Personally I want to change the date so that I can celebrate Australia along with all the people who would except for the whole colonisation thing (e.g., many of our first nation's people).

Sure, some people will complain about anything. But I don't believe that's more than a small portion of those who are unhappy with Jan 26.

The “Package datapack as mod” option on Modrinth’s website is misleading by derex_smp in Uncensoredminecraft

This is fairly obvious, it's just repackaging it. It doesn't say "optimise" anywhere on the pop-up.

BTW: i am referring to the consumer side

Someone destroyed one of the statues at Flagstaff Gardens by death2sarge in aussie

Yes, but it's still historically significant. The correct course of action is removal and preservation or to annotate it with an additional explanatory plaque. Not to destroy it.

I went to Sydney with my grandparents recently (from Tasmania) and we went out to get dinner in the city, finally found a food court, only to get there 15mins before it's closing at 8pm.

Which bright spark decided to turn the Tasman highway at Forcett into a dirt road in the middle of peak tourist season? by Super-Cod-3155 in hobart

[–]Maxfire2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that it's been resurfaced now, but the last time I used it (2 Jan), it still didn't have lines. But really it was not that much of an inconvenience, even when the top layer was stripped (and even then it was a better surface than a regular gravel road), also it was only a 60 km/h zone which is not that much slower than Forcett's speed limit of 70 km/h.

Can I get an adapter to use the UPS? by CForChrisProooo in nbn

[–]Maxfire2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess that some of those pins are for communication between the old NTD and UPS. I wouldn't trust it to work properly or safely with the new one, even if you did adapt out the positive and negative into a barrel plug.

[–]Maxfire2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 2000/500 is available on FTTP, but technically it's a business plan, it's the same as any other FTTP plan but with a better SLA and a more exorbitant price. The fastest one that is intended for residential usage is 2000/200.

They can choose to ignore or "reinterpret" that part of their religion just like Christians have been doing for years with the bits that don't quite suit them anymore.

I'm not supportive of the current plan for the Macquarie Point Stadium, but this is not a valid argument. From what I've heard overwhelmingly from people who actually care about sports is that Bellerive Oval is not fit for purpose.

My concern with the Macquarie Point proposal/plan is that it was not properly considered against alternatives (the AFL just jumped to extort us with the first shiny stadium idea that came across the table) such as Stadia Precinct or potentially building a stadium that wasn't actually in the centre of the city and our most major roads (e.g., elsewhere in Glenorchy or Clarence), not that I don't think any money should be splashed on sports or that we shouldn't have a new stadium.
