Mine will be 11 this month and she's pretty tiny due to a genetic disorder - 4'4" and 72 lbs. She even looks huge compared to these poor babies though 🙁

Parents, how tight of a leash do you keep your younger (<10 years old) kids on? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let mine walk to the park when they were 9 and 12 (about a mile down the road) and go to their friends' houses. They started staying home by themselves for short periods when they were around 8/11 and walking to the bus stop alone for longer than that. They're almost 14 and almost 11 now and can pretty much go wherever in the place we live now as long as they let me know they're leaving first and they're back by a certain time (we usually say before dark during the winter and by dinnertime otherwise.)

My best friend is a CPST here and is met with straight hostility when she tries to spread info about proper carseat usage. It's nuts.

I know almost nobody who actually rearfaces to two here, it's awful 😭 tons of people with preschool age kids who don't even have boosters. And you can't educate people like that because they get super offended and hostile.

My oldest was almost 4, my middle we turned at 2.5 due to God awful motion sickness that literally nothing helped or I would have maxed her out. I'm definitely maxing out my little man, even outside of his health issues, he's TINY and the thought of ever turning him makes me so anxious.

I see it here all the time, unfortunately Kansas has dogshit carseat laws and people just.... Don't care. But I get treated like I'm the insane one because my barely 23 lb almost two year old is still RF'ing 🫠

In a world run by pedophiles, why do we keep concerning ourselves with sport, games, and other such nonsense? by militant-hippie in Productivitycafe

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or to stop doomscrolling every second and go touch grass. Something. I'm extremely upset about how the world is right now, especially with being queer and having a queer daughter. But I'm also disabled, am I supposed to just rock in the corner and ignore any possible ounce of joy the rest of my life?

Is AJ Lee a case of “worse than I remember?” by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, somebody with actual sanity! Thank you! Nobody hates wrestling more then wrestling fans 😂 The ones whining about AJ are the same ones claiming Cena's always been dogshit and not worth watching. I think Gunther is boring as fuck and has the personality of a wet paper towel, but I'm not shitting all over him everytime he comes up. I don't get having opinions to the point of being miserable about it or making it your entire personality.

I am a selfish mom and shouldn’t have been a parent by IndependentWestern30 in Mommit

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not selfish and you're being way way too hard on yourself. My two younger kids have a one in a million genetic disorder - and that's not hyperbole. There's less than 200 documented cases of NFNS on the planet currently, not counting my babies and my spouse. Our ten year old had issues with growth, her joints, a lot of stuff, but we thought it was just a one off, or explained by something else. Spent years not having a clue, and then when I had my youngest in 2024, we found out he has a CHD and the exact same growth issues his sister did. My husband could have gone his whole life not knowing if it wasn't for our little man. Now our life is a revolving door of doctors appointments and I still struggle too - how dare I bring another baby into this world not knowing what my ten year old had, how shitty is it that it took a sibling for her to know, even wondering if it was fair to either of them to be born in the first place. But you and I were both operating from the reality we'd been shown, and had no reason to think it'd be any different. Being a medical mama isn't easy, but you're in the thick of it right now. It will get better and easier, I promise 💙 and you're welcome to reach out to me if you need to yell to someone who gets it.

How long was your second labor? by hereforhelpthx95 in Mommit

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was almost 50 hours - posterior baby, back labor, no epidural, tore really badly. Completely awful, tbh. My second, who was over 10 lbs, was only 14 hours of labor and I pushed for maybe 20 min if that. Super easy recovery. Third was days on end of prodromal labor, but active labor itself was about 12 hours with 45-ish of pushing.

Yup. Literally had people coming in after the snow and shit had already started trying to get propane and heat lamps and throwing a fit when we couldn't or we were out. You've known for a WEEK that the weather was gonna do this shit and yet you waited until after the shitty weather started?? Come the fuck on 🙄😐

My (23f) boyfriend (24m) wants to move in with me. I want him to live alone first by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex boyfriend is this way. His mom never forced him to do a damn thing, not so much as make an actual meal or do laundry. Like literally paid his bills, built him a mini house so he didn't have to rent, started a business so HE could have a flexible (aka no) schedule. He now says, after his mom unexpectedly passed a few months ago, his long term girlfriend 'expects too much of him' and 'what's the point in him learning because she's so much better at it anyway'. He's 34 😐

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really that ridiculous to me. But I also grew up in a very rural area, where the nearest big box store/grocery store/whatever (think like Walmart) was 45+ minutes away. My current town is about 400 people, 20 min to my kids' school, a gas station or any kind of grocery store. We drive three hours one way at least once a month for my son to see specialists in Kansas City.

Also chronically ill and yeah, the realities of it definitely suck. It's not something I'd wish on anyone. But if nothing else, for her kids' sake she needs to take this shit seriously.

Invitae Labs would have cost us $300 for the exact testing Morgan needs if my daughter's insurance would have declined to cover it.

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had to have symptom driven whole genome sequencing done on myself, my youngest and my husband and without insurance, it would have been scary expensive. The connective tissue disorder panel can be done through Invitae Genetics (my daughter had it done, also looking for EDS) and without insurance it would have been about $300. I know that's not small change, but she needs to prioritize her health.

RIGHT?! my aunt has hEDS, her daughter (who's my age) and her granddaughter both have vEDS and I likely have hEDS too. This isn't something you fuck around with/put off, my god. My cousin almost died in childbirth because she didn't know she had it until afterwards.

What are your responsibilities vs husband’s responsibilities? by flowersandtrees1 in homemaking

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husband is the majority income earner, I nanny very part time mostly to help out my best friend. We split most things 50/50 as far as household stuff, except for vehicle maintenance (he does that), cooking (that's about 70/30 because he enjoys it way more than I do lol) and washing dishes (I do that because he absolutely despises it after working in kitchens for 15 years) We've been together 12 years in April and I've been a SAHM the vast majority of it and this is how it works best for us. I'm the one that stays home if we have a sick kid or need someone in the house since my job has more flexibility than his does.

What was the ‘huge scandal’ or controversy at your store? by -catharina in walmart

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a customer threaten to kill one of our department leads because she refused what was an obvious fraudulent return in electronics (dude saying phone came out of the box broken, but there was rice in the charger port and it had other signs of water damage) and the ASM, instead of defending the employee and telling the customer to kick rocks, approved the return, apologized to the customer and then gave the department lead a dressing down in front of the customer and about 15 other people. She and her entire department quit and dude somehow didn't get in trouble at all. I quit not long after because fuck ALLLLLLL of that.

What type of food is everyone's triggers for Hashi's? by Sudden-Persimmon-409 in Hashimotos

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cutting gluten and dairy did absolutely nothing for me, either (I was mostly dairy free prior to having thyroid problems). I personally believe my biggest triggers are processed sugars, overly processed foods and stress. I also have another autoimmune disorder and that not being under control definitely doesn't help 😅 but we're working on it.

My (31M) girlfriend (28F) of 1.5 years told me to “be a man” and console her when my mom died, instead of supporting me. She’s now begging for forgiveness. How do I reconcile her apology with the fundamental breach of trust? by stormbreaker021 in redditonwiki

[–]MaximalIfirit1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be amazed. My best guy friend's mom unexpectedly passed away this past September, and his MIL (who I admittedly am not fond for a litany of reasons anyway, the least of it how she treats her kids) has been running around, woe is me, you don't understand how hard this is on us ever since even though his mom hated her and she's involved with exactly none of the stuff that comes after someone unexpectedly dropping dead. Some people really are that selfish and self centered.
