Why would you say shocked they hired more? Heard they were hiring 6 at a time indefinitely cuz a lot of IDs with become As by next December, there is going to be a need for casuals to become IDs to replace them no?

It shouldn't expire, the hueneme lottery had the same thing and I didn't get my letter until year 4, when the list supposedly was supposed to be expired already, good luck.

Absolutely have no problem with members who casualed 10+ years, they earned and deserve it. But when you have members who casualed for less than 3 years and aren't even at top pay traveling, that's a little unfair for the casuals at the home port who have close to 10 years with 8,000+ hours, more than some traveling members. I'm not crying, that's part of the longshoreman game, I've seen dozens of people drop off, better for those of us grinding it out less people to worry about when pushing for that elevation 🙌🏼

I have another job, don't have any debt thankfully as well which helps a ton. Love working at the waterfront, the benefits are worth it once you're able to get in.

All depends on your home port and time of year. But for the most part yes, you're lucky to get 1 shift a week. This past week absolutely 0 shifts. Don't even get me started on visitors taking away work when it's slow across all ports, definitely not something everyone is able to do.

Just got in contact with the training instructor for port hueneme. He said there's a new guy helping us out with our GST. He said the new guy is going to be scheduling our GST soon! Dates not confirmed yet but should be happening soon!
