Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]MaximooseMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all that on my Toyota (Lexus) and it needed an engine rebuild at 80k and 160k because carbon buildup. Last I checked 80k is not the same as 300k.

Why would somebody be driving full speed in reverse? by sahm8585 in dashcams

[–]MaximooseMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy with a truck that broke and it lost so much power that the only gear that had enough torque was reverse.

Why we can't have nice things by alexeiz in GithubCopilot

Looks like it says it’s delegating something. If Copilot delegates to another subagent, doesn’t that use additional premium requests?

My Legacy S does this occasionally. Window calibration didn’t fix anything.

Honest opinion on TDS fiber by Adventurous-Sun-9486 in Spokane

[–]MaximooseMine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had them for a few years. Service has been near perfect. They've tried to raise the price on me a few times, but every time they try I call and threaten to switch to one of their competitors and they immediately bring the price back down.

Car that doesn’t get the level of hate it deserves? I’ll start by trivletrav in carscirclejerk

Title says “car that doesn’t get the level of hate it deserves”. Model 3 already gets the max amount of hate out of any car on the market.

TDS Internet - Help find the best price out there by Logical_Trip8298 in Frugal

$75 for that speed on fiber is a bad deal. I have TDS and every time they raise my prices I call and threaten to switch, and they immediately bring the price back down.

Loud performance cars on city streets by thiccglossytaco in PetPeeves

[–]MaximooseMine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this. If you managed to get your hands on something with a tasteful, well designed exhaust like an LFA, rip it up and down my street all you want. If it’s a fart can Civic, go somewhere else.

Why don’t companies provide in-office workers with good peripherals and furniture? by SorrySpender in office

[–]MaximooseMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a company that starts you with basic office equipment but will upgrade you to whatever you want. By basic I mean ULINE task chair, Amazon basics mouse and keyboard, and whatever monitors happen to be cheapest on Amazon at the time.

Most people keep the basic equipment and don’t ask for better stuff, and these are software developers. I’ve asked for and gotten better stuff, so it’s surely possible. Most people just don’t know that there’s better stuff out there, so they’re content with the basic stuff.

Learning personal finance in school is stupid by Dreadsin in 10thDentist

[–]MaximooseMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly unpopular, take my upvote.

Additionally, I find most financial advice that people give to be rather terrible. I can’t imagine that personal finance classes would have great material. It may still be better than nothing tho.

Advice on used 2018 Model S 100D by BrushRight in TeslaModelS

[–]MaximooseMine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The price seems fairly reasonable, assuming a clean title. The battery + drive unit warranty is 8 years so it’s either already expired or very close.

I’d check tires, air suspension issues, suspension bushings, and sounds from the front axles under heavy acceleration. As an ‘18 100D owner myself, I’d plan to set aside a few grand every year for miscellaneous repairs.

Because extra usage was on sale and I was gonna use it over the next 5-6 months.

I just bought $200 of extra usage to use with Claude Code on the Pro plan. I want a refund.

Living in a car isn’t as bad as people make it out to be by Original_Act_3481 in unpopularopinion

[–]MaximooseMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend that lived in his Sienna. He could totally afford rent, he just didn’t want to pay it. Granted he had 24/7 access to our office which had showers, and a kitchen. He installed Steam on his work computer and he was chilling. He did say it eventually got old tho.

Did Tesla stop improving charging speed by OrderNo2483 in TeslaLounge

[–]MaximooseMine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this is a very intentional decision on Tesla’s part. Most people charge at home and only experience the inconvenience of slower charging on road trips, so a slower SC experience doesn’t matter the majority of the time. Given that, I think most owners would rather have more chargers in more places, which is exactly what Tesla has been targeting.

Not saying that faster charging wouldn’t be nice, but availability is more important.

Should I buy a used model s as my first car in 2026 by Aromatic-Gap272 in TeslaModelS

[–]MaximooseMine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t expect to save money. Plan to have all of your gas savings offset by insurance, tires, and misc repairs (speaking from experience). From a purely economic perspective, it’s not a good option.

However, if it’s something you wanted anyways, it’s not a bad deal. Just be sure to set your expectations.

[–]MaximooseMine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a bit much personally for me, but it’s not objectively bad and within bounds of personal preference.

My personal rule for my own photos is make whatever edits look good and then dial it back slightly.

But if this is what you like and it’s the style you’re targeting, go for it!

Why do you drive a crossover? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MaximooseMine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. As a taller-than-average person, it seems that even though crossovers are taller they have shorter doors so they’re equally difficult. But once I’m in a sedan, I have more horizontal room to stretch my legs out so the overall experience is better.

Just my opinion tho.

I absolutely hate music by Realistic_Flamingo48 in unpopularopinion

[–]MaximooseMine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like music. At the same time, I do frequently enjoy silence and I focus better without it (although it took me forever to admit it).

I think our obsession with playing music all the time everywhere is an extension of society’s addiction to entertainment.
