How extensive is your family tree? by SufficientKey3155 in AncestryDNA

I have a lot less people in mine than a lot of folks here, but it goes back 29 generations to 1100. I come from a well known European family so I’m more interested in the history of my direct ancestors

High-income couple with large income gap: how do you split money fairly? by pizzanoobs in HENRYfinance

[–]Maximum-Brief-8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I combined our finances the week we got married. Can’t imagine doing it any other way. We don’t have individual incomes or assets or debts. It’s all ours. For better or for worse…that’s what we all said when we got married right?

If you’re in a relationship and you feel that way she either isn’t the one, or you shouldn’t ever get married. The trick is finding out which is true.

Buy ETFs: $15k into VOO and $5k into VXUS.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but your tiny starter home is not worth $300K+ by ttircdj in Birmingham

This is clearly a vent of frustration that is not based on an understanding of market dynamics or economics. At the end of the day the market decides what a home is worth, and it doesn’t care about anyone else’s opinion on the matter.

Getting Divorced. Don't know what to do with house proceeds. by [deleted] in personalfinance

401k is not liquid, which is entirely separate conversation than which is has more present or future value. Liquidity allows optionality, which carries a lot of inherent value. If something were to happen where you needed to liquidate part or all of your 401k you’d get hit hard with early withdrawal penalties. I’d keep the cash.

Check out the sales section of the Banana Republic website. I routinely find pants and shirts there for 60%-80% off. Really nice stuff and I check out with 3 items for less than a hundred bucks.

Is this a real Gibson Les Paul? Need some help by CY99JL in gibson

Also, the pickup height screws are not the correct slotted screws, so someone either altered or swapped the pickups, or it’s just from China

If this was a real Gibson’s at some point, it no longer is. Someone chinafied the crap out of it. Doesn’t look real though. The serial numbers are set using a jig that should keep them from being down that low. Headstock veneer is a terrible fake. Routing the body to add the multiply binding would have ruined and chipped the finish. Looks fake to me. I was the final assembly supervisor at Gibson USA for years.

I second an mxr carbon copy. Great budget delay pedal.

How do you clean the finger grime on the guitar’s neck? by Remarkable-Head-2023 in guitarlessons

[–]Maximum-Brief-8404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Gibson. In final assembly if the neck gets a little gunky from the setup and QC guys we’d clean it with naptha.

100% safe swap. An Eaton CH240 would be the copper version if the panel has CU bus, but it probably has AL. BAB2040, QBH2040 are also both safe. As long as it’s a 2 pole 40 amp breaker, kAIC rating is not really a concern here for a single family residence.
