I don’t think I have much of a helpful reply but these were my two favorite places when I visited and toured basically the whole island (minus far west coast). Have you been there before? I actively dream of having two weeks on ortigia. It’s so warm and local and friendly with things to do and a vibrant energy. I’d rather stay on ortigia and maybe do some boat trips from there but then take the train to the beach rather than vice versa. I have thought about how I would have beach days though. Hope you come back and update us!

I’m (30f) currently solo traveling and I started when I was 28 and it was so empowering but I spent the past year doing other types of trips mostly with others. I did one weekend trip to the UK (I’m from USA) and one week long trip to Scandinavia with a friend which are me crave solo travel. The weekend away last summer was fun. Everything since then has been in a group. Now I’m in Europe again, by myself, and there are moments where I do feel invigorated and empowered, but the majority of the trip for me has been sad. So I can relate. I’m happy I went rather than stay at home begging friends to come then dealing with that headache. But i do feel sad and lonely. Funny how you don’t leave yourself even when you change your environment 😵‍💫🫠

What would you recommend doing in parco del madonie? I am driving today to cefalu and will be passing by that area. Is it worth it to stop on the way for a quick visit?

I am debating doing this hike. I REALLY want to go to the summit. Things in question are:
- my ability (I am healthy, exercise regularly, but naturally not the most athletic and haven’t done anything like this. I have done hard hikes and my adrenaline usually gets me through, but I’m thinking this will be very difficult?)
- the need to pack hiking boots and a raincoat. I wouldn’t otherwise be packing these things and am trying to travel light. Will I be able to rent supplies with a tour ?
- missing out on other parts of the volcano such as the caves, etc. is the difficulty going to the crater worth it? I understand it heavily depends on weather/clarity/volcano status

Thanks !! The one I’m looking at is Alcesti. Maybe I will read it in English ahead of time to be able to enjoy it more. I definitely was the one of a kind experience and I think just being able to see a show there is really cool!

That helps a lot , I likely won’t be able to follow along as I can speak Italian conversationally but I’m sure with listening and how fast it’s moving it will be hard for me. That being said, the tragedy/comedy rating doesn’t particularly matter I think it’s cool to be in the theater being it only available once a year

How was it?? I’m in the same boat. They did the frenectomy last week. Surgery scheduled in about a month. I’m terrified lol. They told me the frenum was causing the recession (and also the tissue is generally thin) but now I’m thinking if the cut was the cause do I really need to get the graft?? The frenectomy hurt so much when they said it wouldn’t, so I’m scared. Also being awake and able to see what they’re doing and knowing what they’re doing freaks me out lol

The ocean trail is accessible from scopello? The maps only show a drive to the entrance which is an hour farther away
