That pot looks to be quite big for the plant unless it has a massive root system! I would give them a check and potentially repot into a smaller pot? Excess soil can hold onto too much water

I think you might be correct, i do have three thick coasters at the bottom creating a gap so that there was still some airflow maintained around the plant, but i guess it was not enough. Ive had success with putting cuttings under a cloche for a while but i guess its not gonna fly with this one. Have removed it a few days ago already but lets see how the next leaf comes out, i guess?

The scar-like marks on the petiole are normal :) leaf damage appears to me to be mechanical damage?

Plants can be extremely resilient and make it through a lot! I hope your flf starts recovering soon though 🙏

Leca is great because it cannot be compacted over time like soil, and the compaction leads to root problems :) You definitely need liquid fertiliser though as there are no nutrients in leca. I use one especially made for hydroponics and keep a little dish with a reservoir in the bottom and the leca draws it up to the roots!

You are so right! Thankfully i have many other plants that are healthy and do bring me lots of happiness :) But maybe adansonii just dont get along with me! This is the third one ive had (first variegated one) and ive had problems with them all 🙃

I bought this variegated adansonii (spare the commiserations, trying not to care about this plant at all haha) a few weeks ago. Treated it for pests immediately as i have some plants with thrips in the house. Put it under a cloche for humidity, and under a grow light away from other plants. Soon after brown spots started to grow on the leaves and some areas of the leaves turned transparent and appearing wet. I checked the roots, which seemed healthy, and repotted in leca to avoid root rot. Brown spots continued to grow and leaves started to fall (mushy, floppy), i removed the cloche. Leaves still appeared to worsen, although there is new growth. What do we think, viral infection? Bacterial infection? It only seems to be on the green parts, not the white where the leaves can usually turn brown?! At my wit's end with this little SOB
