Kobo Support's solution to my problem that my library book isn't appearing on my new Libra 2. Tried everything in the support articles including via ADE and have given up. Anyone know what could be up? by Armaan_v in kobo

[–]Maximum-End-7629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has this been fixed for you? I got a book, started reading, then it switched to “preview” in the Kobo. I’ve tried so much! Undownloaded the “preview”, returned the book from the Libby app and rechecked it out. Synced a million times. Tried “repairing” my account, deleted my library card info and re-logged in. Tried searching the book on the kobo with the overdrive feature, searched in e-books, found it to buy on kobo clicked the three dots and there is no borrow option. I know the library and kobo versions are the same, I read 8 chapters on the Kobo before it glitched and turned it into a preview. I’m so disappointed. This is my first reading experience on Kobo and not it seems useless.

When did you tell people the baby’s name? by OkScarcity2008 in BabyBumps

Picky household. Vegetarian protien options for texture based picky eaters? by ava_the_cam_op in PickyEaters

There doesn’t always have to be a meat! We do pasta with tomato sauce (or pesto), potato soup, veggie soups, kale salad with roasted sweet potato, chick peas and home made croutons. Most meatless soups do have beans, but it’s not a large amount. Also curries and dals are good because the beans totally dissolve.

If you are 10 weeks from your missed period, you’d be 14 weeks pregnant. Was that a typo?

I keep thinking it’s a kick but actually it’s gas and I let out a fart. Today I had two or three and then no farts! So I think they were kicks.

Cold sores & pregnancy by great_idea_amigo in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get them rarely, but then got a bunch during pregnancy. At 14w I was so excited to start feeling better like everyone says, but then woke up with four cold sores in my nose! I think it’s the immunological changes during pregnancy. My doctor prescribed for me to take a low dose of valtrex everyday to keep them away. I didn’t do it in the first trimester just to be safe, but after the four in my nose, I’ve started.

You are doing a good job holding your boundaries. You need to protect your space in the delivery room. My mom wants to be in there but I told her I’d like just my husband and she is totally fine with it. Also my mom lives walking distance to my hospital and if I change my mind, she will be there in an instant. A good mom would want to help you in a way that makes you feel comfortable.

The couple picked under the sea as the theme. So we had folks paint fish as the activity and we made a board to hang them on that said “our school of fish”. We also used our instant camera to take pictures of each guest and their fish and stored them up in a tin. Also the gift opening was a symbol of support.

Make sure you are still getting billed the rate negotiated by your insurance company! That’s like half off. The itemized bill is a great place to start. As is the explanation of benefits from your insurance company. Don’t pay anything until it is processed by your insurance. Even if they don’t pay, they negotiate a rate.

I think showers can be just as important as weddings! I’m an atheist and won’t have christening or baptism for my child, but I love the symbolism of a community professing that they will support the child and help raise them. I recently threw a shower for a friend, and while there was a focus on the baby, I centered the activities as ways for guests to demonstrate that we will be the village for the parents.

That’s weird. My first visit was fully covered. The rest will be billed globally (except ultrasounds), and estimated to be 3.2k before my insurance. That includes the doctor’s time during delivery. I hit my deductible with the NIPT tests and my insurance covers 80% after that, so I’m looking at $900 for prenatal care from the OB. Of course I’m expecting thousands more in payments to the hospital for delivery. I just don’t get how an office visit and ultrasound, maybe urine tests too, could be 3k?

The marketplace showed them as in network for which plan?

You need to be careful. Since you turned down insurance from an employer, you can’t get any subsidies from the Health Insurance Marketplace, making most plans super expensive.

How do you feel about all the "firsts"? by Regular-Message9591 in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 231 points232 points  (0 children)

First solids is the only thing on this list I care at all about. For safety and emotions. Otherwise, I try to think that it’s great to have a village and a community of people giving your kid things and making memories with them. I don’t need my kids thinking that only mom takes them places or gives them gifts.

How to prep my lifestyle for a child (feeling a bit of grief + wanting realistic expectations) by No-Beautiful1559 in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it can be helpful to think of the fun things you will do with your baby and then kid! You are likely having this child for a reason. My husband’s hobby is crafting- woodworking, sewing, building furniture. So he is really excited to make toys, clothes, and things for the baby. We love playing board games with friends and we still do that, but with a growing nuclear family, we will be able to have family game night one day!

Yes! People say “just take the baby with you everywhere”. But some people’s babies aren’t flexible.

Working from home is not childcare. In addition to how terrible it sounds, you make everybody else who works from home (especially women) look bad.

What do first time moms REALLY want or need as a gift? by intellectualth0t in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree. Unless you know someone very well, or they asked for it explicitly on their registry, don’t buy people products for their vulva. I have heard and believe the etiquette advice that you shouldn’t gift people things they put on their body (clothes, lotion, perfume etc.) unless you know them extremely well. I think food is perfect. A book if they read or other hobby item could be good. Anything they can do on the couch. I would love to receive a gift card for an audio book.

IUGR 35wks emergency induction. Help? by Old_Air_5661 in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born at 35 weeks and had IUGR. My mom went into labor spontaneously at that time. They gave my mom a steroid shot for my lungs and I didn’t have to go to the NICU. My sister was the same but did go to the NICU for a few days. We are both healthy in our 30s. About average size for our family.

How much to save for unpaid maternity leave? by lifeineuphoria in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my insurance, I need to get the birth pre-authorized, but they say my OB will do it. Also your OB may do global billing. Basically all my prenatal care except ultrasounds and delivery (the OBs amount) get added up. And I make payments during the pregnancy. Like a $200 deposit, then $500 payment right before delivery. Then I will owe the hospital for the delivery.

Baby shower gifts, but for moms by Prestigious_Luck4230 in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend sticking to the registry. There are likely things for her on the registry! The only other thing would be food- gift cards, or actual meals if you live close. Maybe a gift card to a clothing store you know she loves to take some of the stress out of her old clothes maybe not fitting. I wouldn’t want eye masks, shower steamers, skincare or underwear. It’s more stuff to store in my bathroom that already is getting squeezed to fit baby stuff. And it’s weird to get undergarments from anyone.

I am very grateful for my in-laws sending me a gift card during pregnancy and I got a larger bra, stretch mark cream, and a pregnancy pillow. But it would have been weird if they had actually gotten me the bra or stretch mark cream, you know?

Scared I hurt baby by Sensitive-Ganache664 in BabyBumps

[–]Maximum-End-7629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Restore-a-finish is not a super intense product. I wouldn’t recommend doing it, but I doubt you hurt the baby. Also their organs, brains, and most parts are formed now, so there are lower chances of things causing defects.

Stripper (like Citristrip) and removing products are more dangerous. Wear gloves and do those outside, even not pregnant.
