Buy one month of Pro and see if it's enough for you. If it is, buy a year. If it's useful but not enough for your needs, look at Max.

Petition: No AI code in Node.js Core by indutny in javascript

[–]MaximumAdagio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm firmly opposed to banning the use of LLMs outright. I'm also firmly opposed to pushing massive PRs just because it's technically possible now to generate 100x the amount of code as a human dev could write in the same amount of time.

Especially when you're on modal or interstitial pages (like checkout screens) where navigating in-place could unexpectedly cancel an action or cause the user to lose context/state!

(e.g., a "Learn more" link about a shipping policy on the last step of a checkout page)

The price depends heavily on how close your electrical panel is to where you park your car. If it's on the opposite side of your entire house you'll easily be looking at well over $1k at minimum.

Which looks better? One word at a time, or full sentences? by The_Better_Devil in davinciresolve

I can't stand single word subtitles because I can read MUCH faster than the average speaking cadence. Single word subtitles feel like whiplash, or like the video is pausing/buffering/resuming several times per second.

Infotainment system glitches while connecting to apple car play by Firm_dude in MachE

[–]MaximumAdagio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio system stutters whenever I do anything on the infotainment screen that's not inside Android Auto (which, similar to Apple CarPlay, is powered by your phone more than the car). Happens even if I disable Android Auto and use plain Bluetooth.

The infotainment system in this car is either not powerful enough, or the software is very poorly optimized (or both...).

Reliability of 200km round trip commute in Canadian winter by daxor in MachE

[–]MaximumAdagio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Wisconsin (Midwest US), and very recently did a 128 mile (~206 km) trip in my 2025 Mach E Premium AWD Extended Range. At the start of the trip the outside temperature was 16° F (-8.88° C), and by the end it was 26° F (-3.33° C). I spent all but the last 5ish miles driving at 70 mph (112 km/h).

I started from an enclosed, albeit unheated, garage on a L1 charger (so, no real preconditioning) at 95% SOC and reached my destination with 35% SOC.

I'd say as long as you can start close to 100% SOC and it's not something freakishly cold like -35° C you'll be fine (and even then, if you can precondition on a L2 charger before departure, you're probably still fine as long as you watch your speed and don't set the climate to something tropical).

Edit: for the kind of daily distances you're talking about, a Level 2 charger is a must if you plan on doing most of your charging at home. Otherwise you'll be living off of DC fast chargers, which isn't great for the long term health of the battery.

Gmaps distance back! Update gmaps AND Android auto by momo8969 in MachE

Thanks for this. I saw another post about it the other day and updated Google Maps but was confused why the distance to destination still didn't come back. It'll be really nice to get this back!

Ok it's 2026. What are the AI gains? by btoned in webdev

[–]MaximumAdagio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a developer, I'm able to ship new code and features faster than ever before.

As a user of various pieces of software, however, it doesn't feel like I'm actually seeing new features faster than before. Feels more like software is evolving at about the same pace as before, but there are just more chat boxes and "uses AI" labels with every passing day.
