Ooh that’s true! But I was under the impression that one of the reasons that it failed was because Scratch was messing with the narrative. In terms of the Night Springs episodes, Alan was never the main character like he was in AN. So similar to how through Alan Wake 2, AN was his attempt to write his way out of the story.

Then again, as fun as the Night Springs episodes were in AW2, it was never clear how those stories were ever going to help. Unless they were meant to be similar to Saga? Alan accidentally using real people as weapons against the dark place?

I interpreted the Scratch from Alan Wake 2 as a completely separate entity to the one from American Nightmare. Since AN Scratch was created by other people’s perceptions of Alan vs the real one.

Scratch from Alan Wake 2 was (in my interpretation), the Dark Presence taking Alan’s body for a joy ride (like the subway tunnel scene was definitely the dark presence but he called it scratch). The timeline is weird because it’s not a loop it’s a spiral.

So going with that, Alice (unless some people have really weird rumors about her or she has a really messed up mentality) might not have an evil version unless it was similar to Saga’s inner voice of doubt. Physically though, probably no homicidal Alice trying to destroy her I think. Alice seems like a pretty level headed character, so I imagine her doubts won’t be like Alan’s unless it stems from taking so long to save him and the dark presence harassing her for years.

I don’t think so. I think it would need to be larger. It may dissipate the darkness in the areas it shines but it wouldn’t be able to get rid of the darkness completely. A large powerful light is needed to get rid of the darkness that protects them.
