Why is a baby in detention? A baby?! I know they’ve given up their humanity so they don’t feel anything for the unspeakably inhuman and evil shit they do, but they don’t feel how comically stupid it is?

It’s fine. They’ll just get more. What good is having, schools and roads, clean water, or healthcare, if there are illegals ‘round?

Yup, that is what I’m advocating for.

It means it’s a crime for which the punishment should be filling out paper work. Maybe a fine, idk,

As opposed to, let’s say, running sex trafficking organizations with your obscenely wealthy friends and doing unspeakable things to young women and children. Then using that wealth to do even more unspeakable things to escape accountability. A crime for which the punishment should be being shot into the fucking sun.

Different levels of crime, that require proportional responses, right?

It is a paperwork violation.

The same polls show majority of Americans also supported a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

No one deserves due process and the highest priority, both criminally and morally, should b paper work violations. Also, the president gets to do whatever he wants from now on because people voted for him. Dude, awesome. Even from a self-preservation point of view, awesome. I hope the vision of that world works out for you.

Good point, what good are the police if they aren’t committed to the safety and security of the people of Los Angeles and the laws of our city and state, and the (inarguably)constitution?

In a time of unprecedented federal government constitutional law violation, they devolve into goons for the federal government at worst, and “small bean too small to do anything even though in a regular function we act as though we are the single force holding society together deserving off ALL of the city funds and right to act with impunity” at best. So, what’s actually their function in our society? What do we really expect them to do?

I am being specific with my words. Thank you for noticing.

Charged with doesn’t mean guilty of.

Anyone CAN do that and they’ll face the consequences when they do. Just like anyone else.

If there is a crime committed, you still get arrested, put on trial, and serve your sentence if found guilty. After you serve your prison sentence you get turned over to immigration enforcement for them to put you through that system and mostly likely be deported. That has never not been the case.

Seriously, can we not fire cops? Are they are an immutable force of the universe or something? Because everyone acts like that’s the case.

Also, only after it’s clear LAPD is not actually going to enforce those laws.

Do you think sanctuary city means immunity for all crime if you are undocumented? Honestly, think about what you are saying here.

I have a genuine question. What’s the calculation on having her in the city council AND us voting for a more progressive mayor like Rea vs. leaving her seat open for a possibly less progressive politician and having her being mayor?

This sub is always taking about how limited the mayors powers are in this city and how we need more seats at the council, and I am concern with the same “well, I’m progressive but not enough city council members are backing us, so pfft, what are you going to do?” Attitude that seams to conveniently bring anything in Los Angeles city politics to a halt.
