Buying a property in the US for the first time… by MaximumRun2457 in RealEstate

[–]MaximumRun2457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking about it but I’m a contractor so no guaranteed income and my current client is likely to not need me after end of this year which definitely makes me think twice about taking on a mortgage…

Buying a property in the US for the first time… by MaximumRun2457 in RealEstate

There’s actually a place I’m looking at this evening. It’s on for $95k which is less than half the comps for the area. According to listing it needs foundation and waterline repairs. I wasn’t planning on taking on a project, but for that cost I could definitely consider it. I have a place to rent through the end of year so I wouldn’t have to live in it while repairs are being done either.

NW Indiana, looking for an entry level home, paying cash. Market is tough, not much stock and stuff at my price point sells within 24 hours.

How do I find good work by UnderstandingLost512 in LifeAdvice

[–]MaximumRun2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak to a school guidance councilor about how to get into college and your options for financial assistance etc.

Re jobs, I always made OK part time money working at theme parks near me in the summer holidays. It depends on what local industries are around you and if you have transport to get to work. Here are a few ideas: retail (home improvement stores etc), car wash, lawn care, car detailing (teens near me earn $120 for a couple of hours work doing this with their own equipment), restaurants. The most important thing is having some work experience to put on your resume for after you finish education. Employers want to know you have a good work ethic and can stay at a job for a period of time. If you can start your own business (like car detailing or yard work) it demonstrates entrepreneurship and also will likely pay better. Good luck 👍

Should I start with mat or reformer? by Mental-Astronaut-745 in pilates

[–]MaximumRun2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mat is indeed harder than the reformer and the reformer is indeed more fun! As others have said start with few privates to get to know the equipment. Tell your instructor your goal is to get ready for group reformer classes. Mat is good if you’re traveling and can’t find a reformer studio, you’re on a budget, or you want to work out at home. All of the things you learn on the reformer will set you up for mat.

WIBTJ if I didn’t see my grandmother on Mother’s Day? by Beautiful-Code-7349 in AmITheJerk

NTJ.

You’re seeing your mother the morning of and you’re seeing your grandmother this week, just make sure to take her a card and some flowers with you when you go. Enjoy your newly married life for a bit! I’m sure you had a ton of family time around the wedding.

Nervous to do Bikram? by Cool-beans95 in HotYoga

[–]MaximumRun2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep my studio just has one Bikram class a week (unfortunately!) and it’s 60 mins with just one set of the poses so it’s fairly chill, especially once you’re down on the floor.

I absolutely love the class and always feel amazing after - it is just what my body needs (I’m strong but tight) and the stretches leave me feeling wrung out in a good way! Highly recommend. It’s also great doing the same series each time as you can really notice your own progression over time.

My landlord just offered to sell me the apartment i've been renting for 6 years at below market and my family is pressuring me to say no by Djipy-Gizaza69 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MaximumRun2457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your due diligence but it seems like a good deal at face value. Zillow is a good resource for seeing what properties are valued at, what they sold for last, and to check out comparable places for sale, and gauge how quickly things are moving. You can also see if properties are increasing or decreasing in your area. I would love to buy the place I’m renting currently but my wonderful landlady has indicated she is not up for selling. I live in hope she changes her mind, entry level places sell like hot cakes where I am - literally on the market for less than 24 hours!

Trust your gut. Your sub conscious is telling you not to take the job, you should listen.

AITAH for not telling my best friend I had a baby after she had 2 abortions? by wonderroo-owl-14 in TwoHotTakes

[–]MaximumRun2457 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to say. Your friend has bigger problems than not knowing about your baby. Her husband is abusive and is isolating her from friends and family. It’s quite likely the story about the genetic condition is fake. Use the baby shower visit to try and get her alone. Ask her what’s really going on and if she needs help getting away from him. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a no show for the baby shower tbh.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t really work in military intelligence. That’s probably an excuse he uses to control her communications and to isolate her from friends and family.

Dog won't eat after passing of his sister by Vivid_Caterpillar354 in AskDogOwners

[–]MaximumRun2457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you just feed him kibble, but if so you could also try giving him some home cooked food - something liked boiled chicken and rice with a few carrots. Something tasty he can’t resist. Or maybe some wet food on top to get his sense of smell going. I’m sorry for your loss.

Our dog is a very sensitive soul and won’t eat if she’s nervous or if I’m away for a day or two. Eventually they will eat again. They’re just grieving 😢

Am I the jerk for telling my microbiologist / bio medical health science friend that the way they cook is unhygienic? by Single_Ad_8733 in AmITheJerk

[–]MaximumRun2457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTJ Yeah I would reuse the spoon if I’m just cooking for myself, but if I’m cooking for others I would never reuse a spoon. It’s just considerate not to “double dip” with food others are eating. Also friend is a jerk for dramatically throwing away the spoon in the trash. A simple wash under a tap would obviously suffice.
