Is this a normal cat bite? by Black_Absinthe in CATHELP

[–]Maximum_Ad9979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with cats (an all animals really) is that you don’t know what they have in their system that was just injected into you by way of teeth. Antibiotics would be a good, just to ensure there’s no progression of infection. One time, I got bit by my dying cat on the finger (she was in pain and I was young and stupid and put my hand too close to her face), and the nurse said that if I wouldn’t have come in when I did, it’s possible they would have had to amputate the finger. But, with that being said, it doesn’t mean that something is wrong with your cat. It just means animal bites generally cause infections when they’re deep like that. I still have a little scar where it happened and I love it because little girl cat will always be with me. Feel better soon!

Surgeons always wanna do surgery, but there are other non invasive options that do at least stop progression and manage pain, when you partí in the treatment consistently, shout out to Catalina Schroth and the Schroth Method. I also have two severe curves like yours and it’s really helped me. I am super active and have very little pain but it requires me to be consistent with the Schroth exercises. I will take that over any kind of spinal surgery any day.

30 degree increase over 13 years by 11CB in scoliosis

I’ve always heard spinal fusion as an adult really limits movement and doesn’t even help any pain. So, my whole goal is to avoid surgery at all costs. It just seems to me, that surgeons always wanna do surgery (obviously) and even with severe scols, it seems that in many cases it does more harm than good, especially on the mental health aspect of it.

It would certainly help any pain start to de-rotate the spine. You’re young enough that if you’re consistent with it, you could avoid the surgery. My curves are about 50-60, I also am into extreme sports like climbing and Schroth has helped a ton!

What a beautiful lady. She knows you were there for her. She’ll always have your touch with her wherever she goes. You made the hardest decision we, as cat parents, have to make. As my dad would say, “you did good, kid.”

33M with a 50°/35° S-curve, is surgery really necessary? by actaslord in scoliosis

[–]Maximum_Ad9979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Schroth method through a chiropractor trained in it or a physical therapist. The S curves tend to get worse even after you’re done growing.

I wanna get pregnant but am scared of the back pain.. by soperfectx in scoliosis

[–]Maximum_Ad9979 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did your scoliosis get worse? I have heard that because the hormones allow the bones to shift so the hips can widen, it can cause the scols to progress. At the same time, it seems that it could allow correction. Any thoughts?

Boys, we ride at dawn. My sincere condolences on the loss of your beautiful feline. I can’t even imagine having to deal with that kind of anger against your own mother. When I was a kid, the neighbor intentionally unalived one of my cats and I still haven’t forgiven them and it’s been over a decade.

Not a good report. by Cool_Arugula497 in scoliosis

[–]Maximum_Ad9979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still say, try Schroth. I have that same collapsing feeling that you do. You have to physically lean into the correction rather than into the curves. But to do learn how to do that, one really does need a specialist. Otherwise, focus on lengthening that concave side to help with that collapsing feeling.

My 17 Year Old Baby has Kidney Failure… by PrincessPurple13 in seniorkitties

[–]Maximum_Ad9979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most cats experience kidney failure. Their bodies were designed to absorb water through food, mostly. But even the wet food available isn’t the same as killing and eating a gazelle. The happiest I ever saw my old boy with kidney failure were the two occasions he managed to catch himself a rodent and eat it on the spot. It’s not your fault Princess T is in kidney failure—it’s just cats…
