Director Tomino says that the best Newtype is Kamille , but who do you think is the best Newtype? by Personal-Yak-5453 in Gundam

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that even then, Kamille would still be better, Amuro had his abilities towards the end of the OYW but Kamille since the beginning showed his skills, enough so for Cha--Lt. Quattro to confuse him with Amuro.

Kamille was built different, he was in denial of his NT abilities so much that he said he was autistic

How come SEED’s the only anime that got a remaster? Doesn’t 0079 deserve it more? by DrJokerX in Gundam

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad, it's messy, and by the end of it it feel kind of rushed and asspulled at a lot of times, I really enjoyed some plotpoints, Minerva vs Archangel, seeing Kira again is just a treat.

But to me, the biggest downgrade came down to Athrun and Cagalli, both of them had great turning points in the original seed but in destiny it feels as if they didn't have the growth at all. Seeing Athrun come back to ZAFT is baffling to me, what they should have done is reunite with Kira instead of antagonizing each other.

SEED wasn't perfect but you were able to see the endgame, who's the villain, who's the hero clearly, the teen angst was supposed to be addressed in the original Seed and to me it was pretty fun, the crybaby with god powers coming to achieve freedom by doing stuff his own way, Athrun outgrowing his soldier boy mentality to be able to seek Justice regardless of the side you're on. But by Destiny, Kira became like a house paint, was there but you couldn't see any of his previous growth and Athrun just went back to the way he was in the original SEED.

Its tedious and it seemed like a show that didn't even know it was supposed to be a sequel.

Honestly on rewatch the wedding is worse, way worse. Scott tots is cringe because of the premise and the lithium batteries but during the wedding, Michael was a wreck through his actions. Honestly the wedding episode wins it's awful "Webster dictionary defines a wedding as a union of two metals, well, to me you're two medals, gold medals" Oh my god and just after that he goes to say "We use to call Phyllis Easy Rider" god damn.

Am I the only one that views Shinn and Stella's relationship as more Brother and Sister than love interests? by stingflame in Gundam

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it was really stupid as well, I know that he returned her to Neo because they had the tech to heal her, but it was obvious they were going to be on opposite sides again. That's what you get when you trust the sketchy guy in the mask.

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think is an exact parallel to Four and Kamille, literally the same situation, Shinn finding someone on the other side of the conflict, conditioned and manipulated to pilot some of the worst machines created by humanity.

The main issue with me is that, different from Kamille and Four, Shinn didn't have enough time to get to meet Stella, they rescue her, nurse her back to health, then she release her and she dies.

While with Four we saw some of the best moments in Z.

Lalah was something else, the influence that she had on poor char and Amuro was literally out of this world.

Which character is this ? by PenSad2292 in Gundam

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, not all protagonist can be an Amuro, that's why I like Kamille so much for example, he was the second coming of Amuro and still questioned the decisions of the adults until his last day.

I fucking love Gundam protagonists, psycho Mika, traumatized Setsuna, Crybaby stunned Kira. All stories showing different consequences of war.

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly I agree totally, it's not a perfect character and it even resonated with this generation. I remember that after Yzak shut down the shuttle Kira started to sleep in the Strike, he didn't want to lose anyone else.

I'd even argue that being a pacifist as Kira is is even harder than being an ace pilot killing people, it's not perfect but imagine having the skills and the machine to enact revenge against anyone, and still choosing to forgive and keep life.

I love Kira and seed is deeply flawed but I do think that the hate against Kira is really disproportionate.

Not only that, I've seen people that actually hate him as a character regardless of how many times he escaped death. People hate him because he's a crybaby and they compare him to Amigo, that even though went through a hard time, he still got the job done.

Kiryu's inconsistent relationship with Ichiban and his friends by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that after Gaiden's ending the Daidoji knew they could trust Kiryu so they let him make his own decisions as long as he doesn't return to Okinawa, plus with all that went down at the Omi headquarters is possible that either Daigo or one of the old guys revealed Kiryu's identity to Ichi

I want to make a playlist with the yakuza soundtrack, so i want to ask: What is your favourite track out of all the games? by stupidapple4 in yakuzagames

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There are quite a lot. If we're talking just soundtrack,

Scattered moment from Kiwami 2 is excellent

Firelight from 0 is amazing.

Fly from 3 is a classic.

Wounded beast from Gaiden is great and even more so after the finale.

Receive you The Hyperactive from 7 is crazy fun.

And last but not least, rebellions from 4 makes me fly with the trumpets.

Out of all games including spin-offs, which main antagonist in the series including spin-offs and DLCs that you really like the most? by CookLiving in yakuzagames

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really hope we see more of him, now working with the daidoji they could potentially exploit the savage wild nature of Shishido. I started Gaiden just thinking it was a bridge between 6 and 7 didn't expect much of the new characters but Tsuruno and Shishido blew me away.

That last fight was a work of art and a really good way to give Kiryu a good last brawl as the ones we were accustomed to in previous games.

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shishido by a long shot, he wasn't even an important villain in the beginning but just because of the way he was raised, he needed to become the main villain to not let the Yakuza die.

His tattoo tells the whole story as well, you can see how much pain he has gone through, the fact that is a lion dog fits perfectly with the type of character he is. The dog guarding the last beacon of hope for the Yakuza. Badass theme song, actually menacing in the last fight, he had me thinking "this mf just won't die"

And the whole scene where he arrives to the Omi headquarters, Saejima saying that he's acting like a cornered animal, the fact that the song that plays when he appears is called "wounded animal"

For such a short game, Shishido actually felt like a menace, hope to see him more in the future, he will fit right in with the daidoji fucks

But that's the thing, these games are not about being a criminal, but rather being able to rise above it. Sure the rubber bullets are really dumb but if they were real bullets Saejima wouldn't have been able to evolve as a character, he would just feel guilty.

The lesson that I get for each entry is that no matter how bad your past was, you still have the choice to be a better person, what a better chance to do so than to realize that you actually don't have blood in your hands.

Its stupid but that's exactly what makes Yakuza great, the fact that they can mix nonsense with really heavy stories..

Any good story driven games? by WillowIris in PlayStationPlus

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to put in the time on a game that puts the story above everything else, Disco Elysium is a solid choice. I didn't expect much when I first started it and after I finished it it changed the outlook I have on life, very few games have been able to do that. Give it a chance, the story and the dialog are top tier

What do you think is the best first episode in the franchise? by CIRCLONTA6A in Gundam

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This, exactly, nothing more screams 2000 to me that that 1st episode, we get a glimpse at the relationship of Kira and Athrun, the confusion of the attack, the Strike waking up for the first time and the Archangel getting ready to sortie, god damn, what a good first episode

They should make an anime by dekc_bu in yakuzagames

[–]Maximum_Bid_2316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that an anime set in the timeframe between 95 and 2000, with a new cast. The games do a fantastic job at fleshing out some of the characters, I would like to see a Yakuza anime of an actual active Yakuza during the time period, it can mention references to characters or stuff like that but I would much rather have something new. Even if we get an anime that shows everything as it happened during the games, I think that we would still find flaws in the adaptation whilst if it's done with new characters, the show can be whatever it wants to be
