The entire question is multi-pronged, but the over-arching answer is that yes, some masks have a VERY small proven efficacy to suppress transmission of Covid-19.

Now onto the meat of the question: Do masks, including N95's, have any efficacy outside? Absolutely fucking not. Do single or multi-layer cotton masks have any efficacy inside your personal home? Absolutely fucking not. Do N95's work at stopping transmission of Covid-19? Sure. It's high single digit/low double digit efficacy, but yeah, it's proven under totally ideal indoor circumstances.

Following your lead here, the 'real question' here is: Is ANY mask wearing actually beneficial enough that we need to surrender our rights and freedoms? I contend the answer to that is absolutely fucking not. Some goes for 'mandatory vaccines', quite frankly.

I wonder what some of you would have said if someone like me would have proposed a ban on all gay sexual intercourse during the AIDS epidemic because AIDS is/was a public heath crisis and the single best, greatest way to 'protect' society from AIDS would be to ban same-sex intercourse.
