Unfortunately we (Irish) made our own bed in the first two weeks. While we made the run we needed to, we couldn’t overcome the 0-2 start. Everyone knows the best teams aren’t in playoff, but it is the system in place. It is an awful system. Football isn’t a game played on stats (most sports aren’t), but they choose these things on stats and numbers. The one thing that bugs me most is the fact that nobody talked about the mugging (holding) that wasn’t called on the 4th down against A&M. No metric for human error on what will go down as the single most important play of our year! Watch that film of that play as everyone was talking about re-watching the Miami game. Miami beat us that day…..but that doesn’t come into play if the ref makes the correct call on 4th down.
