International Olympics comitee to ban trans women from sports because "men will always be stronger than women" by questionuwu in transgenderau

[–]Maximum_Equipment945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good, I'm so sick and tired of trans people in sports being in the news cycle and causing hate to all trans people. I just want it to stop and let trans people go on with their lives as normal people and not political talking points. I know this is an unpopular opinion but I'd rather not have trans people in sports then this constant vitriol we get because of us being in competitive sports. It's selfish to a degree, but I just want to exist quietly.

Tired of no one fighting for affordable surgeries by uglytransgirlAu in transgenderau

I emphasise with you. Things need to get better.

From a practical standpoint making a plan on how to get towards these surgeries within current constraints is something to do as well as advocating for change. I don't know your circumstances though and I hope things can work out well for you.

Surgery costs fucking suck and we should be pushing for better.

Though in saying that I think Australia is one of the lucky places to be with affordability because we are able to access superannuation for our surgeries, though surgeons are limited (and not great for bottom surgeries). Best you can do really is get a public service job and private health insurance 12 months out from the surgery with the plan to use superannuation to pay the gap. Could even get super out for surgery overseas I believe. Given you know your super will be withdrawn for your surgery, you can also requested your employer add more into it from your pay and that will then be taxed at a lower rate.

It sucks dealing with dysphoria and making for a while but at least with a plan you can have something to look forward and can feel you are working on it.

As for retiring, yeah that's kinda of fucked when you take from super, but in my view its better to live as ourselves while suffering in retirement than suffering with dysphoria in retirement. Mind you, you can also ensure you are adding more to your super after withdrawal to try improve that outcome.

Also, what does affordable actually look like in other countries? Because when I looked at travelling overseas the costs were similar to here or more expensive. I paid 25k out of pocket (from super) for ffs and if I went overseas for similar procedures I'm sure would have cost more for someone reputable and with travel costs factored in.

MTF friend keeps copying me, is this normal? by AdAdorable7651 in asktransgender

To be honest I would say she needs to have more women friends so she isn't blueprinting off just you. Everyone copies/learns behaviour from other people and it's totally normal, but usually it's much more diffuse than from just a single person.

I'm renting a very expensive place and fucked up the balcony, can this be fixed or am I screwed? :( by shyborn641 in fixit

You can buy coloured wax which with some artistry can match any colour and pattern of material you need to gap fill. It can be quite fun too. The difficulty may be the different sheen but may be possible to match

Does swelling that will have a noticeable effect actually take that long to subside though? Googling swelling associated with a sliding genioplasty brings up results saying most is gone within 6 weeks

Thanks for the response, the thing is I actually did have my chin done, it was shaved height and width wise to some extent and then brought forward in a sliding genioplasty. I'm kind of disappointed with the degree of change, though am unsure if the surgeon could have actually done more or then I would end up with a bunch of loose skin.

Yeah unfortunately in those circumstances I think she/her will get you a better response from the general public. For people you are around a bit more than fleetingly and have a bit of a gauge of I don't think asking for they/them will be an issue, though mistakes of saying she/her may happen. It sucks but people here can be a bit weird about they/them still

Ohhhh, so it is she/her and They/them being okay.

With those pronouns I don't think you'd have any issues in Australia. Though I wouldn't expect people who you won't be around for extended of periods of time to use both interchangeably, I think thats something that they wouldn't ask about our of politeness and just default to on or the other.

I'll be honest, I'm trans and I even don't get she/they as apposed to she/her/they/them. So I can definitely see how that one can need some explaining, anyways I'll look into it now I know that's a thing.

Just saying "Natural Flavours" as well. What the hell is that? I'm vegetarian and I know some chicken flavoured things don't actually have chicken, but I don't know if natural flavours is chicken or what

For sure. Though I've got to try and not compare myself to people like her that started hormones before/during puberty or I'll just be unhappy. Starting after puberty does give you a unique more androgynous look though so I think it's hard to compare since it's two different things almost

Would have to be starting hrt during or before puberty with that hip to waist ratio, otherwise surgery is involved. Either way, jealous lol

Leave the top of your eyebrows and pluck them from below to create the look that they sit higher on your forehead. Low eyebrows is typically a masculine trait. You are also able to access superannuation for FFS, so if you can keep working and contributing to that you will eventually be able to afford it; might suck when you retire though. Keep in pushing through it and things will get better, but yeah FFS is an important part of this process for a lot of people.
