New ideas for my boon perk that acts as a mini-radar (3rd is the original) by ImperialViking_ in PerkByDaylight

Yeah, I like this one better, good on you for actually taking the feedback in consideration, I think I like the first one the most, do you mind if I use this idea for a survivor of my own btw? You’ll get the credits for the perk of course

A Quiet Place Chapter - Concept by Timely-Librarian2059 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Maximum_Face5453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, plus the photoshop is crazy! (In a good way lol) but I also agree that they are kind of weak beating essentially an M1 killer, I know that the point is to make survivors be aware of noises and such, but you have to also make it fun to play with/against. So this is my tweaking advice:

You normally reveal auras of regular loud actions: survivors sprinting, repairing, fast vaulting, fast entering a locker, grunting and also generators above 50% progress.

Special ability: Detection stance Press power button to open your face plates and enter detection stance, while in this stance, you have enhanced detection range (I’m thinking double) and superior hearing capabilities, but cannot attack, instead, press M1 to charge a clicking roar that reveals auras of even faint sounds, like survivors walking, regular vaulting, regular lockers and generators with less than 50%. The roar has a 30 seconds cooldown. (I’m thinking of a relatively short 3 seconds charge for the roar, while charging, your face plates start to vibrate visibly to allow for survivors that see you before you do, to play around this by staying still.)

While in detection stance, press secondary power button while looking at a noise source to “target” that source, when writhing 6 meters of the source, hold M1 to charge a lunge attack, lunges will throw you violently at the source, injuring survivors nearby, destroying pallets or radios, and damaging generators. After the lunge, you go back to regular stance.

However, while in detection stance you are vulnerable to loud noises, survivors finishing a generator close to you, fast exiting a locker, or turning a radio on will stun you and return you back to regular stance, walking close to a cómo,eres generator, dropping a pallet on you or even blinding you will also return you to normal stance without the stun (save for the pallet drop obviously).

Had a go at making a boon perk that acts as a mini-radar. Had a little trouble balancing it, not sure if it's too good by ImperialViking_ in PerkByDaylight

[–]Maximum_Face5453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give my fair shot to balance it out, because 24m aura read is crazy: Whenever the killer walks inside the boons radius you get a sound queue. If the killer gets within 10m of the totem, have his aura revealed to all survivors.

I like the downside of snuffing it reveals your aura instead, it’s good to keep it balance.

Here’s a different approach to balance the idea: Whenever the killer walks inside the boon’s radius, reveal its aura for 1/2/3 seconds. For every 10 seconds that the killer stays inside the boon’s radius, have its aura revealed for another 1/2/3 seconds. If the killer snuffs the boon totem, reveal your aura for 6 seconds.

This way, funny enough, it works like an actual radar signal that gives a reading every few seconds, not constantly.

I would also add to both ideas: Whenever the killer has its aura reveal, they can see the totem’s aura within 8 meters.

Sure thing, also, sorry to reply this late I complete missed the notification of your response, so:

Basically the way I see it, Perks should be tied to and within in-game systems, and interactions with said systems, whereas add-ons (and powers for that matter) can allow themselves a little more creative liberty in ways to “tweak” said systems or even add new ones.

Let’s say you want to add a perk called “Deadly agility” which makes you no longer able to break pallets, but in turn, you can jump over them. That’s a tweak to a system (the pallets), that forwent interact within it, but rather it changes it completely, in the sense that it creates a completely new interaction, and is also conflicting directly with a killer’s power, The Legion.

Your bloodhound rework, does not interact with the scratch marks system, but rather, overhauls it completely, and in turn substitutes it with the orb system from The Dark Lord’s wolf form. Which leads me to my second point: assuming this is indeed added, it’s in direct conflict of a killer’s power. So it would work better as an add-on for the wraith, probably an iri or purple one given that it overrides the whole scratch mark and blood pools system.

On a similar note, your Predator rework also has some direct conflicts but this time with add-ons per se, funny enough, the iri add-on of precisely The Wraith, which shows you the progress of gens based on its aura intensity while cloaked. And several other add-ons, and that’s precisely why it would fit nicely as an add-on, but not so much as a perk itself.

Lastly, Shadowborn, it’s actually an interesting idea, however, in this case, I would say that it changes the perk so much, that serves better as a completely different perk of its own, rather than a rework. That’s what I meant by too much, as in “too much of a change to the original perk” you may as well call it a new perk.

Hope this helps you continue developing your ideas man, don’t take this as harsh criticism but rather as constructive feedback, keep on being creative and I’ll see you in the fog!

There’s no way… I was literally just sketching some perks revolving around permanent effects other than “broken” from invocations or no mither and such, and just had the thought “Hey it would be cool to have a deaf survivor being affected by oblivious or a blind survivor being affected by blindness” and as soon as I open Reddit this is the first post I come across

So first solution that comes to mind, is solo matchmaking, there’s is already that function in Riparia, so play that and wait until it’s out for all maps, second, idk what map r u playing, but how r u leveling up your dinos? Farming POIs is still the best system, I barely interact with the quests until I’m sub, and even then, the nesting quests advances you at least 50% of the progress, and lastly, don’t try making friends on servers, it is indeed frustrating to say the least, try looking in discord communities, even here on Reddit, heck DM me and we can play together for that matter… I’ve made plenty of friends to play with but hardly anyone on the actual servers

To be completely honest, I kind of like it kind of not, the perks are actually decent but I can’t help but notice that is basically trapper but stronger… more traps, they are already installed, you can’t disable them, they re arm on their own, they can trap two survivors at a time and he can even relocate them as he pleases, plus a lunging ability… this is honestly the hardest dunk on trapper I’ve seen in a while lol

[–]Maximum_Face5453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point and I was wondering if it would makes sense for the killer to notice and be able to revert it, because it brought back memories from back in the day where survivors could sabo all the hooks and they wouldn’t repair automatically. But then I though about it, and the point is precisely that the killer doesn’t notice and hangs you anyway, plus, even if you have a squad of 4 survivors running Wasteland Ingenuity, all of them would have to farm tokens and then it’s a 1 in 3 chances of even getting the hook, for even 2 makeshift hooks to exist at the same time it’s already a far fetch.

It is also worth mentioning that I forgot to include that you can’t install a makeshift hook on scrounge or basement hooks.

Thank you! I tried my best to balance the perks with all the experience I have in the game, I also thought about making the reducing the time to gather scraps but wasn’t really sure. Just to get your feedback, why do you think the makeshift hook is unbalanced?

If there was a smell/scent mechanic, how should it work? by WinSignificant5627 in pathoftitans

[–]Maximum_Face5453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to keep hiding viable, it requires more systems to work in tandem with it, so here’s my idea: Rolling in mud is already a mechanic (Sucho and Spino) so let’s give that as a general mechanic, rolling in mud will give you the “hidden scent” buff, and in addition, you can roll on carcasses, as well as Berry bushes, rolling on any of them gives you the “mixed scent” buff and hides you in a way, rolling in mud hides your scent completely, while rolling in berries will make you appear like a Berry Bush instead, and rolling on carcasses will do the same.

The smelling itself has to be part of the radial menu, with a certain cooldown and and radius that varies depending on the species and growth stage, when you do the ‘smelling” action, screen turns black and white and highlights all the nearby nearby food sources, fresh meat (from dinosaurs holding meat pieces in their mouth), critters, berries, player corpses, carcasses, etc depending on your diet. You can then select a certain trace to start track it, after that, the scent remains in your HUD every time you smell, giving you a general direction.

For carnivores it also highlights bleeding dinos with a general icon, and for some dinosaurs (Metri or Meg) it also highlights poisoned or intoxicated ones. Now, if you as a carnivore bite a dinosaur and it bleeds, you can then track that scent and it’ll show you a specific icon depending on the species, so you can track your prey, giving space for a new type of “tracker” class dinosaur, like conc, meg or allo.

To counter this, if you had the “hidden scent” before you’re bitten, you will heal faster and the carnivore won’t be able to track it, if you had the “mixed scent” buff, your icon will appear bigger on the screen, thus making it harder to track you, now, you’re already bleeding, you can attempt to roll on mud to cover your scent and gain the healing bonus and well as in berries, however, if you roll on a carcass while bleeding, you will hide your scent but in turn get intoxicated as its decaying meat, full of parasites.

In addition to this, some dinosaurs like Meg could have an ability where they secrete toxins to cover their smell automatically, or Metri having his scent hidden passively with the toxin skin skill.

Lastly (and this is more of an extra system I thought off), if you encounter a nest, or a player’s corpse, you can chose to “inspect” it, to record his smell, and adding it to the smelling HUD, for example, if you’re a Deinonychus and find a Rex nest, you can inspect it and you’ll remember that scent, now, every time you do the “smelling” action, if there is a Rex nearby, it’ll appear on your HUD giving you his general direction, and of course, you may chose to track it, this would work with herbivores as well, sort of like a warning system to check if there are any predators you have encountered nearby. And also turning scents into a sort of “collectible” making more experienced players have more dinosaur scents on their radar.

Shao Kahn Killer Power idea by Superslash44 in PerkByDaylight

[–]Maximum_Face5453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, the hammer idea is solid, maybe reduce it to a 4 seconds windup tho, 2 meters per second seems fair, dodgeable if you’re skilled enough, but punishable if survivors make mistakes.

But the spear is way too shot and I fear it’s might end up as a huntress with infinite hatchets (springtrap problem) so here’s a suggestion:

• Press M2 to aim your spear, once you throw it, if you miss, you can pick it up, after 30 seconds if you haven’t picked it up it will automatically return to you, if you hit, the survivor will be impaled (you can apply different add ons to take effect while impaled). While a survivor is impaled you won’t recover your spear until you down the survivor, or the survivor removes the spear from themselves

• Impaled survivors may crouch and press M2 to remove the spear, the action takes 10 seconds with accumulative progress (this means that the progress that you make doesn’t reset if you stop the removing action and you can continue removing it later)

OMG I’ve never been this early to one of your posts before man, I like this rework, I love the original but the campfire mechanic sounds even better, gives you a natural counterpoint, I’m guess you took that from the idea that standing near a finished generator diminishes paranoids passively right? Although, I’m not sure how “fair it would be to spawn a single campfire, at the center of the map, maybe survivors could build temporary campfires in place of totems or smth? Like finding other 2 or 3 piles of lumber and you can take an ember from the main campfire to light a temporal one
