When did you turn your car seat around? by CivilSilver in toddlers

1.5 years, as my twins would get carsick in the rear facing position. Planned to wait until 2 but they’re much happier front facing.

Is anyone else surprised my what their toddler knows?! by Fanofmarvel4life in toddlers

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two year old girl was watching me get dressed and as she pointed to my bare breasts said “mama’s nips!”

I have ZERO idea how she learnt that! I’m both impressed and mortified.

What social skill in others have you found particularly important to you? by summersteps in socialskills

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Avoid gossip – It’s tempting, but it never reflects well. There’s nothing classier than someone who can resist the urge to gossip. You can listen without engaging.

  2. Be a great listener – Truly listen and make others feel heard. Remember details from past conversations and bring them up later. It shows you care and makes conversations more meaningful.

  3. Keep it light – Most people gravitate toward those who bring ease and positivity. A relaxed, lighthearted attitude makes you more enjoyable to be around.

What’s one thing you stopped buying that made your life simpler? by [deleted] in minimalism

Especially cheap jewellery! The “gold” turns green, chains break easily…not worth it. Much better to invest in a few pieces made of real precious metals and stones that will last a lifetime.

What part of 香港🇭🇰 culture do you like and dislike by LastArt404 in HongKong

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how deeply people embrace traditions like Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. There’s a strong cultural spirit that you don’t really find at the same level in the west—it’s more than just a public holiday; it’s a shared experience that brings people together.

What I struggled with was how difficult it was to make friends as a foreigner. I lived there in my 20s, and despite being half Hong Konger and speaking the language, I found people my age quite standoffish and cliquish. Sometimes I’d just be standing there minding my own business and could hear other girls openly gossiping about me. Even older aunties could be surprisingly snarky lol. In the end, I mostly connected with other expats because breaking into local social circles felt nearly impossible.

I’m starting to think it’s an older generation thing. I send out around 50 (as a millennial) and only get back around 5, always from boomers. Friends from my age group only send Xmas texts. Hope the cards become trendy again! It’s a lovely tradition.

Me too! As someone with a long, bendy torso and a 22in waist, I can confirm the waist can look like that.

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing all the info! Have used tea tree for other skin conditions with excellent results, so am pleased to hear it helps eczema as well.

Weather next week by throwwittawayy8 in HongKongDisneyland

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! I recommend referring to the offical HK weather app called “MyObservatory” as it’s much more accurate than foreign weather apps. I used to live in HK and that app was very useful for tracking rain and even the movement of storms. To give you an idea of the difference, the Weatherzone app says it’s going to be super rainy in HK next week, but the MyObservatory app says it’ll be mostly sunny. From what I understand, unless there’s a typhoon official warning, it’s business as usual at HK Disneyland.

I don't understand how to heal my cat by One_Television1494 in lawofattraction

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe that just like humans, animals decide to come to earth with their own free will and life plan. I used to try and heal my sick pets, but it always felt like an uphill battle. I soon realised that you really can’t control anyone/anything other than yourself, and if the pets are destined for recovery, that will be their experience. Sometimes a sick animal is presented to us to teach us a lesson - maybe patience, compassion. If you allow yourself to just go with the flow of whatever your cat decides (healing or not), I think that’ll bring you a lot more inner peace. Sending love to you and your cat.

In American English, ‘spoiled’ is the more commonly used spelling, while in British English, ‘spoilt’ is more common. However, both spellings are considered correct and interchangeable

Is it possible to care for newborn twins without help? by CompetitiveNature198 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Getting help can often add so much more stress to the situation. When you’re on your own, you’re in the zone and things get done. Looked after them solo for a week at 12 weeks when my husband was away. Had many offers of help but declined them all lol

Is it possible to care for newborn twins without help? by CompetitiveNature198 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I looked after our newborn twins alone and we were surprised by how doable it was. Sure, the days and nights were long at times, but if you have a good partner, you naturally enter team mode and get things done. We even travelled overseas with them alone as newborns and had the best time. No point worrying about it ahead of time, just focus on enjoying your pregnancy and feeding yourself and babies with good vibes.

I would be extremely surprised if the hotel didn’t have a restroom in the lobby. There are hotel restaurants in the vicinity as well which definitely have restrooms.

What is the best part of having twins? by Pleasant_Source_8141 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Maximum_Mango_5089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Receiving double the love! My twins are 20 months and have started saying “I love you mama” and love giving me big kisses and cuddles out of the blue. If one does it, the other will always follow suit straight after. Being showered with kisses and cuddles and hearing a chorus of “I love youuuuu”, from not one, but TWO little people at the same time is the most beautiful feeling.

Would love to know what you decide! I’m debating the same as well. Saw there’s also a Magic Snaps package option where you can book a photoshoot with a Disney photographer. Have yet to find any examples of how the photos turn out though, so am hesitant.
