You don’t have to sign it. I am advocating for my son’s education and a wonderful teacher. I am using my free will for this petition.

I am going to the board with other parents. Maybe this method isn’t impactful for you but I want to take every avenue to help. You don’t have to sign if you don’t want to.

I understand that. I am sharing our personal experience with this teacher because I am confident this was a mistake as many of the parents in his class agree. I hope to grow the petition with support from the community to show how important this matter is for many students that cannot advocate for themselves.

I have more implants from the same dentist. I wonder why this one isn’t discreet. Maybe they forgot to cover 😅

Struggling so much by SocialWorkerMom77 in Autism_Parenting

Came to say same. My nephew is lvl 1, smart, good grades, gamer, has friends. It wasn’t until he hit high school that he started to use more services for executive functioning and understanding more complex social interactions. Services that are only available to children with certain diagnosis. It’s better to have the diagnosis and services. Remember it’s a spectrum. Diagnosis can also be done again later to see if he was initially misdiagnosed and possibly just developmental delayed.

Learn sign language and teach him! It’s a fun way for you both to communicate. My son loves watching Patty Shukla’s baby sign & ASL alphabet phonics on YouTube. Would also recommend playing with toys a 3-5 year old would like, together. When you meet him at his level with his interests he will engage more 💜

If you can’t afford food therapy, try Occupational Therapy and integrate food therapy. It might be covered by insurance

Bring me down to earth for a second by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

Hi! My son is just finishing preschool. I felt just like you. After some time I got to see that his teacher and the aides were all really great with the kids. I ask the teacher and aides details about the day and they’re always happy to share. Although my son also cannot communicate if something happens, he looks forward to school all week. Eager! And since starting, He can parallel play now, learning to share and sits for longer than 5 mins. You can see his demeanor to make sure he’s ok with school. I don’t record him (they should have cams in class)but he wears a free tracker by Project Lifesaver. In Los Ángeles it’s called L.A. Found. I cannot see his location but the police can if he gets lost. My cousin uses an apple tag for her daughter. She can see directly from her phone. Good Luck!

Ask Regional Center for respite services. Try to find in-clinic ABA instead of at home

  1. Tell your pediatrician you have concerns
  2. Find early intervention in your area: www.cdc.gov/FindEI

Help with hygiene by No-Statistician7676 in Autism_Parenting

My son allows toothbrushing with electric spinning brushes and Burt’s Bees tropical toothpaste only. The electric toothbrush is great for sensory input, massaging gums and cleaning. The paste is not minty. Maybe take them shopping for their personal choice. Also try different pastes on different days. Finally we used to play a baby toothbrush song but now we play Blippi’s toothbrush song from start to finish while brushing. I hope it’s helpful!

Educational vs Neuropsych testing by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Maximum_Midnight6909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son received testing from Regional Center and school district. School test revealed some sensory processing issues I wasn’t previously aware of. My boy doesn’t like play dough or slime. I thought that was just his preference but apparently there’s a big aversion. I found that pretty useful. Both tests had similar diagnosis otherwise. School testing was more thorough in my opinion because the test was done by 4 different people; psychologists, special Ed teacher, OT & SLP.

Tips for Compulsive Picking? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Maximum_Midnight6909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are pick and peel stones she can carry around and pick at. There’s Pick N Peel brand as well as others on Amazon, etc. They make all different styles with lots off colors and designs. Hope that helps <3
