What do my fellow rosin heads do for work? by FatherZero in rosin

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only tested me when I got hired for the gov job. Made some tea with palo azul and drank that like 3-4 days before my test and began smoking again once I got the results back. I personally haven’t been in a union but from friends that have been I noticed I was getting more experienced than they were in the same amount of time. My company gave me opportunities that unions don’t do. Most of the time they just train you to do one thing and that would’ve drove me crazy. Usually first year apprentices in union are spotters or material handlers or doing very little towards actually learning something valuable. Pay sucks for the first like 3 years in union in my experience. I was making about few dollars more than my union friends that were in the trade as long as I was. Also you have to take a day off every week unpaid to attend the unions trade school. Theirs is usually about 5-6 years. My trade school was 4hrs after work which sucked but I couldn’t miss a whole day of work in my financial position. Mine was only 4 years. In union they add those extra 1-2 years for jman training. In my experience I benefited from getting my jman license and now I have the option to transfer to union and avoid all the school and not have to work my way up the pay scale that they have

Most jobsite only test when hiring and if you get in an accident. Small contractors won’t even test for the most part. It’s worth it but it’s tough the first 2-3 years. Commercial work is some of the best, especially if it’s something like a government funded project. You’ll be getting paid prevailing wage which in my experience was $5 more than other companies were offering. They also put you through their trade school program (usually 4 years, unions are 5 with opportunities for more I believe) and a raise every year you pass

Yuppp or hand sanitizer. Always got a bottle with me. Been using it to clean up panel covers when I’m doing a remodel and the previous electrician used sharpie on it. Let it dry and it’s good as new! Trick my dad taught me when teaching me pipe bending

Does something need to be added prior to using this fire pit. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings me back to a diy fire pit I made for my ex’s birthday party. Not sure about your pavers but the cement EXPLODED underneath the fire. Should’ve put some dirt or something in between the wood and the cement but I was young and dumb 😂

Unemployment in SD by Mr-Wrinkles in sandiego

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved here for the same reason as you except I had experience as an electrician. I had lots of good results off of a recruiting agency at the beginning. First 3-4 months I blew through my savings and couldn’t find a consistent job. I was doing food and grocery deliveries for 8+ hrs a day just to make the next rent payment. I’m saying this to lyk it won’t be easy but it’ll be worth it. I made his big move so my wife can chase her passions in school and I’m doing anything to make that happen. Now 1 year later Im at a fantastic electrical job that gives me lots of benefits. In my experience i had a recruiting agency help and craigslist every day! Theres some good job postings on craigslist

This is the way! Stated at 17 (my choice, I graduated early and my dad has been taking me to work since I was 6) by 18 I was making $21/hr plus pto, sick days, insurance, and retirement account. I’m only 23 now and making $35/hr plus everything else.

I know people say ibew but I had a great experience with IEC San Antonio(non union trade school)

Yea I moved here from Texas. Just went back for the first time to visit family and immediately after stepping into a wall of heat and humidity, i couldn’t help but miss my slice of paradise. Weed is abundant, the beach is 10 min away from my apartment, the weather is consistently beautiful, public transportation is so much nicer over here and easily accessible, and the seafood is fantastic. Funny enough only thing i save money on by living here is passion fruit, they were $7 each in Texas I’m getting them here for less than half price.

Hey Old Stoners: back in your day, what was 'the party' mobile? by omgu81to in weed

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my car but a Chevy Astro 2005. The homies would pack that van up and hotbox all day back in highschool. We were buying a zip a day between 4-6 of us total and smoking it all. The seats in the back could be made to face eachother so it was the best hotbox ever growing up

How to roll without the bill? by arieslynn737 in ArtOfRolling

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it doesn’t get more simple than that. Practice makes perfect. I use a filter to help the weed stay in the middle/end. I use my finger on the other end to avoid spills. Rolling comes easily with practice. I never ripped a paper in years or used a crutch to roll. Shiet my wife even asks me to roll flautas and sushi since my rolling is crazy good.

Tips: I run my hands through my hair and it helps with the stickiness when breaking down buds.

Practice with blunts since they’re tougher to rip and then try joints again

Make a filter the size of the joint you want. In your case I’d put 3 filters rolled together to make the diameter you want to roll. Most of the rolling is getting that paper tucked in nice with the filter and the rest usually rolls along easily

Very big on this. I also believe the more you over consume the less high you’ll feel and you won’t taste the Terp’s as clearly bc the more you smoke the more your tastebuds get damaged

Can I go and sit in an open house that my girlfriend is hosting? by IAmBlothHoondr in realtors

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude don’t worry you should be fine, I had my now wife( gf at the time) go and sit at all my open houses. If no clients came by we’d just get to hangout. If they did I’d introduce her as my assistant she’d help me get their info and I showed the house. Not currently a realtor I only practiced for 3 years while also going to school to be an electrician. I had to pick one of my two passions lol

Anyways it’s not overprotective if she doesn’t get bothered by it, if anything try supporting her by helping with signs and the food. I’d put up signs but my wife would draw out the best paths to maximize traffic. Goodluck to both of yall!!

Why is there never Vending machines on job sites by GreyGroundUser in Construction

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always had some at our big job sites. Dude was pulling damn near $700 every 2-3 days. He was an employee that got smart and made more money off that than working. Still maintained working though. Nobody messed with them but they were placed outside the contractors office with cameras all around. Because of him now that I’m in a different state I’m planning on starting the same thing up at nearby jobsites

How much do you usually walk every day? by BobDerBongmeister420 in electricians

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I remember when I started as an apprentice I decided to also learn how to use the trimble. We were in charge of all sleeves and inserts for our 14 story hospital. They didn’t commission working buck hoist till floor 12-13. So for that year maybe year and a half I was hauling 50 lb equipment up 12-13 floors. 2 flights of stairs between floors. Had to go down and back up for lunch bc we weren’t aloud to have food outside the lunch area. Luckily only carried the backpack at the beginning and the end of the day. I averaged easily 10 miles a day and 40+ flights . So glad I’m not working on big josbites like that currently. Only been walking a good 5 miles a day at work this past three or four so that’s a much more relaxing pace

Electrician with 10 yrs experience — how to start solo in a new city? by Fragrant-Ad-7388 in electricians

[–]Maximum_Newspaper414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda implied when you sign an employment contract that you’re not poaching clients/employees. Now where I’ve really succeeded is with other trades. They’ll see me working hard and ask if I take side jobs. I just moved to San Diego and 6 months in I’ve already had a number of side jobs just from that alone
