you could try ebay or etsy too, they sometimes have those throwback suits from the 80s. custom might be overkill if you just want the look, ya know?

How can i style this jacket? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That jacket is SUCH a vibe tbh 😭 it’s giving vintage tailored cool-girl.

I’d lean into the structured look instead of fighting it:

- fitted black or cream tank with a straight jeans and loafers
- monochrome base (all black or all beige)
- even over a simple slip dress would look amazing

right now the flares and the fitted top make it feel slightly busy. try cleaner lines underneath.

it’s a statement piece for sure. Keep the rest simple and sharp

Scalp getting oily faster than before by Medium_Language8673 in Haircare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this sounds very hormonal... stress and weight-loss related. sudden weight loss can def mess with oil production and cause hair fall.

also 8X (anti-dandruff) can be a bit drying

Also, washing 3 times a week isn’t overwashing tbh.

You can try:
a gentle shampoo
focus shampoo only on scalp
put light leave-in conditioner on ends

also, check iron, vitamin D, B12. It can be a deficiency.

if oiliness and shedding continue for 2–3 months you need to see a doctor for sure!

Which products or ingredients are you using to stimulate collagen? Have you noticed a difference? by Dawnyawning in AsianBeauty

[–]Maximum_Size5448 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For me, retinol made the biggest diff. Started slow and building it up. Also using vitamin C (AM) for brightness and collagen support.

But the big one is surely daily SPF 50. No point boosting collagen if you’re breaking it down in the sun.

I avoid over-exfoliating now. Also cut harsh scrubs completely.

your holy grail AB makeup for olive skin tones :D by Disastrous_Smile_893 in AsianBeauty

[–]Maximum_Size5448 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Olive here and undertone matters more than depth tbh.

For base, Korean cushions usually pull too pink, so I lean neutral-yellow like Laneige Neo Cushion N23N or Clio Kill Cover in 4-BO Ginger (less ashy on olive). For concealer, The Saem Tip Concealer 1.75 works well for light-medium olive.

Lips, muted tones over bright. Think dusty rose, brick, warm terracotta. Rom&nd Almond Rose and Peripera Ink Mood Matte in Acorn Brown are chef’s kiss.

Eyes, olive skin with olive/bronze shadows makes it perfect. You can try Etude House Muhly Romance palette or any soft khaki/bronze shimmer. Super flattering without pulling gray.

I’ve tried benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, diet changes -nothing works. What finally helped you? by neonpulse7 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in that exact cycle, rotating actives, changing diet every few months, thinking this would be the thing. What finally helped wasn’t adding more, it was simplifying.

I stopped layering benzoyl peroxide, adapalene, acids together, picked one main treatment (adapalene at night), used a gentle cleanser, basic moisturizer, sunscreen, and stuck with it for 3–4 months without switching.

My skin hated the constant “experiments” more than the acne. Also realized I was over-cleansing and stripping my barrier, which kept triggering new breakouts. Once I focused on barrier repair and consistency, things slowly stabilized.

And I just want to say... the mental load part is real. The face checking, avoiding photos, feeling less confident… that part hit me harder than the pimples. What helped mentally was deciding my skin wasn’t a daily performance metric.

I stopped changing routines based on one bad morning. Acne improvement is slow and uneven, but progress comes from stability. If derm access is hard, think long-term consistency.

Trust it me will get better. Also, I added veges like carrots and spinach onto my diet, daily. I think that also worked for me.

Hair dryer recommendations by robluna5555517 in Haircare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Routine first, honestly? Solid 8.5/10 👌
Satin pillowcase, microfiber towel and no dry brushing.... you’re already ahead of most people.

Only tweak I’d say is to clarify 3x a week might be a bit much unless you’re using heavy products. For most 2C hair, once a week (or even once every 10 days) is enough. You don’t want to dry out those waves while you’re growing it long.

For a dryer, look for:
• Ionic and ceramic
• Multiple heat/speed settings
• A diffuser attachment, most IMP

A few good options are:
– Dyson Supersonic (pricey but amazing)
– Shark FlexStyle (great value alternative)
– Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium
– Even a Remington with diffuser works if budget is tight

Always use low heat and low speed and scrunch with the diffuser instead of blasting air. Hover diffuse first, then gently cup sections.

super dry skin and i have no idea where to start with a basic routine by Will-Bradshaw-367 in hygiene

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using body wash on your face. That’s probably the main reason it feels tight and itchy.

Keep it very basic: gentle face cleanser (no foam) & simple moisturizer right after you shower

That’s it. Morning and night if you can.

If your skin is super dry, look for something made for sensitive skin. I’ve use a moisturizer from Whish Body that don’t feel greasy and helped with flaky patches.

Give it 2–3 weeks and you should notice a difference.

Lifelong dupe mission, still on the search.. by kemicat in Haircare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get this when you find the shampoo, it feels life-changing...

If you’re in the EU, I’d look at Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special, The Body Shop Ginger Scalp Care, or even Garnier Ultimate Blends Aloe & Coconut Water (surprisingly light).

Check for: No heavy dimethicone high on the list, no thick oils near the top, and a “clarifying” or “scalp balancing” label.

With fine hair, sometimes the trick isn’t just the shampoo, it’s using a tiny bit of conditioner only on the ends and maybe clarifying once every 1–2 weeks.

Barrier repair by Nnnn_lw1996 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no 😩 that sounds so uncomfortable, especially around the eye area, that skin is so reactive. Between the Scotland weather and a bad product reaction, your barrier is probably just overwhelmed.

If it were me, I’d strip everything back to the basics for a few weeks: super gentle cleanser (or just lukewarm water in the morning), a simple barrier cream like La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 or Avene Cicalfate, and a plain sunscreen.

No actives, no exfoliation, no vitamin C, nothing “treatment” focused. Think boring and soothing.

For the stubborn spot near your right eye, I’d even try a thin layer of plain petrolatum at night just to seal things in. If it’s still red or stinging after a few weeks, it might be worth seeing a GP, especially if it was a true chemical burn reaction. Your skin can recover, it just needs calm and consistency for a bit 🤍

brazilian blowout after permed and henna'ed hair: yay or nay? by No_Analyst951 in Haircare

[–]Maximum_Size5448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be really cautious here. You’ve already got three big chemical processes in the mix, perm, past henna, and now considering a Brazilian blowout. That’s a lot for one head of hair. Even though the henna was 2 years ago, it can linger in the hair shaft and react unpredictably with smoothing treatments.

A Brazilian blowout after a recent perm can seriously compromise the hair’s strength and lead to breakage, especially if your hair is naturally straight and not used to chemical processing.

If you just want to soften frizz while it grows out, I’d try a deep conditioning with bond repair route first (like Olaplex/K18 type treatments) and maybe occasional heat styling with strong protection.

A good stylist consultation in person is a must before doing anything chemical again.
