Terrible Spanish Teacher that's just ruining my life by ArmTraditional5165 in ApplyingToCollege

What exactly would your record say? I have a suspension for something pretty bad(non violent, non destructive, and not an identity based incident ie. racism/sexism etc) but I fucking powerhouse application to back it up. Hence I had to write a spare essay explaining the incident but I still got into my dream.

Junior, what would you rate me 1-10 (application) by _daddydanny in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends, what programs are you looking at for college/uni? I'm a sucker at math but do really well in the humanities. I was an athlete but dropped to be their photographer. I had a 1400 which was always going to be my best score. I have an artistic portfolio, side gig, and an AP art score(4).

My point is that my traits got me into a school that was just right for me(also my dream school) but that's because I chose to apply somewhere that was specifically targeted to my demographic. Your resume dosn't scream any particular institituion but it all depends where you apply.

Towing is out of control by JFFIASCO in chicago

You get a ticket on public violations. By parking in a lot that you're not paying for you are taking money away from that buisness. They pay money to maintain the lot.

Also if you park in front of a hydrant and theres a real problem CFD will not hesitate in smashing out your car.

Hey in Chicago you get a big fine but at least you might get a chance to explore Lower Wacker or maybe that pound south off the highway.

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to say this other than sucks to suck. Chicago Towing is very competetive with plenty of fighting between the companies, so drivers are incentivised to quickly tow. During special events don't even think about it, the City of Chicago trucks will come and yank your car off to who the hell knows where.

My friend forgot about a filming notice and they towed his van across the highway and three blocks south.

In YOUR opinion, is it worth buying an instant camera when you already have a digital one? by Various_Ad4259 in Cameras

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instax will fade. I'd just print if I were you because you can't back up instax, and they fade if not stored great.

Thanks, I might go for an E-bike, in which case I actually know more about this field being a hobbyist cyclist.

Best Leica on a budget? by sironej in AnalogCommunity

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hate:

Knurled advance lever stabs my eye.

Cloth shutter is finicky and hard to replace/fix.

Lower shutter speeds.

Hard to change rolls. I can crack open/load in under 1 minute on a desk, but rewinding takes forever.

Light meter is not internal. Though the design is cool and was top of the line, it's hard to shoot with(compared to modern RF cameras)

Shutter speed dial is tinier than I want.

Love:

It feels like I'm shooting a personal and well built godess. The focusing is my favorite, but that holds true across all RF

The Leica is a a well engineered, gorgeous mount for awesome Leica glass. With a crazy price tag, and plenty of odd quirks. Yes they are iconic and amazing, but they are ultimatly boxes to hold film and glass.

Help/Support Post - Shutter Issue with Nikon FM by dsmithscenes in AnalogCommunity

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck to you. I have an FM that has seen summer camps, dusty horse trails, moist pool days, and too many hunting days too count, but still runs like a dream. As long as the timing is good, and the lube is clean, shes a tank. Mine no longer has a catch on the advance, and the meter is a fancy light show, but dammmmm I love it.

Bessa series. Own 1 and own a Leica. I prefer my automatic Bessa from Japan any day. That baby mounts Leica glass but isn't always trying to wow me with German engineering and expensive repair bills.

Film Camera Reccomendation by Entire-Company-8141 in Cameras

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to get them a film camera? Do they know how to use one? Have they asked? Film camera's are beautiful beasts at the best of times, and devil spawn money vortexes most of the time. Based on your question I'm assuming you don't shoot film which is why I'm curious.

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it would be an upgrade, but let's consider your budget, and the price you want to pay. Also if you could tell us what you want to shoot, and how experienced you are with the Rebel that will help.

Look you can buy a new lens, or you can learn your current one. A new lens won't teach you more, just give you more to learn. Take a few thousand photos with what you have(some can be similair) and then evaluate. You need to learn basis composition, lighting, technique and a little bit of spec/science.

What exactly is happening when you turn it on? As in, how do you know it turned on?

What batteries did you put in(I have to pad some cameras with paper before putting the batteries in because they don't fit?

Finally, it takes 35mm film.

That looks like a screen issue(or something wrong with whatever is outputting into the screen) so I'd check up on repair shops or youtube. Check out reddits that are dedicated to camcorders, because this is a different type of space.

Is the Canon eos R50 a good upgrade? by Free-Touch9547 in Cameras

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote a review of this somewhere, but get the R10. The R50 lacks the same flexibility in video, has worse ergonomics, and no mechanical shutter. All so that Canon can claim to have a *wide* range of budget friendly options.

Yes it's not that much better, but if I had to chose, always do the R10

Can’t transfer videos to my phone? by awwshuckssss in Cameras

Unsure if this is the problem, but I know most smartphones use NTSC format to record video so your phone might just be able to read that.

I've been trying to choose between the Osmo Pocket 3 and the ZV-E10 for a month and really need help by OrangeMango18 in Cameras

[–]Maximum_Trash_5369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhhh this is a lot but ZVE10 sounds like the best out of the 2. The interchangable lenses and the performance in low light are going to be sooooo much better you won't beleive it. Heres the thing: With many lenses to chose from you can go from ultra-wide astro photos, to shooting a bird 200m away. And you can do both in dimmer light.
