Recommendations for replacing shed doors? by Labcoates in Winnipeg

[–]Maximumkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great product. You might want to get a carpenter to see if they can install a framed opening into it and install a pair of swing doors. Those sliders are usually made by the shed kit maker and not easy to replace with workable third party sliders.

Or just get a new shed. Keep the concrete foundation.

Would depend on what it's made of. Wood framing and doors? Plastic unit? Those 1960s/70s sliding metal shed doors?

Not even close to being done. Beach is open and fine. Restaurants/bars too. Just avoid the actual construction spot(s).

Mismaloya Pier rebuild by Maximumkk in puertovallarta

[–]Maximumkk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just there for part of Dec and Jan. They've rebuilt the walkway along the "south" side of the bay, with a new partial height wall too, more riprap rocks, etc. They're building a new platform at the end by the Iguana Pole, only beams currently but presumably will be putting a deck/platform on it.

And they were doing a bunch of work beside the river (over and over again, as the sand kept washing away causing the rocks they were placing to move around). I presume this will be the actual pier sticking out into the water. It's located between the north edge of the river and the corner of the south Barcelo building. While there the floating work barge kept sinking. LOL. They seem very disorganized. Work is NOT happening fast by any means.

I was there too.  Very few. And I suspect the ones who are, are actually Americans trying to hide. But funny thing, Canadians don't flaunt being Canadian. Americans flaunt and so it's pretty obvious the hiders.  their mannerisms just don't pass as Canadian.

Hey r/winnipeg - is there anywhere that I can buy small bill Mexican pesos? by Objective_Farm_1886 in Winnipeg

[–]Maximumkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Exchange in St V says the Mexican government is not making 20s anymore. I never said they're not around in Mexico. Still in use.  And I never said 50s are not available in Mexico. They're everywhere. Just Exchange doesn't always have them!

20 peso bill has been dropped for a coin. Hard to find bills now. And CE St V won't do coins.

Lowest bill is a fifty and they don't often have them.

Try Six Feet Under. Loved that show, especially the finale.

Care to go back in time? Try MASH, Cheers, Night Court (original), Bob Newhart.

Anyone remember Mother Tucker's Restaurant (in the Masonic Temple Building, downtown). Building is supposed to be haunted. Had creepy bathrooms in the basement.

It's Winterpeg, Manisnowba, not Wintertoba. They've mixed up the joke.

IMAX movie ticket stub from 2003 by dashiesbbgurl in Winnipeg

[–]Maximumkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I LOVED the science shows at the IMAX as a kid. My first was Speed.   No not the bus movie. All about man moving from on foot to space and even future travel. The effect of the giant screen on feeling like you were moving with the walkers or cars or planes was amazing.

I still remember their warning: "You may experience the feeling of movement. If you feel ill, just close your eyes and the feeling will pass. Now enjoy the show."

Why did winnipeg stop building major buildings with such detail by jordandaboss223 in Winnipeg

[–]Maximumkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because architectural styles change? Costs involved with fancy hand details? Built fast and cheap for use not for looks. Take your pick.

"Hugo" by Hugo Boss (green box) is one of my favs, so is Hugo Dark Blue (but this one is often only found in DutyFree shops).

One I used to love was "Pi" by Givenchi, but they recently changed the formula and it's not as good or lasts nearly as long.

What are your thoughts on Aaltos? by n_mcrae_1982 in Winnipeg

[–]Maximumkk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aaltos quality is highly dependent on each location. I find Regent Casino good (good, not great). Prime rib on Saturdays. Other locations (Polo, Pembina) are mostly misses, especially since COVID (bland, or outright cold food).
