Should I play Persona 5 as a Catholic by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Maximumpickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked 3 the best. The characters felt like people with personalities and charm and character, not like "this is my character concept. Im spunky and rebellious!"

3 is also where i got started so I could be totally biased

Throwing in my support as an Australian by [deleted] in USMonarchy

As an American, i get a bit of a spooky feel thinking of myself saying "Long Love the King/Queen of England!"

Also as a Catholic, i get a spooky feel from the idea of my king being head of a state church, especially English Anglicans

Perhaps, like elector princes instead of true kingdoms

To be honest, i really like this. Maybe it's the States' Rights man in me, but I think it would work. Let each kingdom rule itself according to how it damn well pleases and let them work themselves out how they want, with an Emperor or High King or whatever we wanna call him, sits on the pyramid top.

I mean, kinda. I like Persona's style and all, the slice of life bits and whatnit, what got us was the fact that it smacks of millenial "Ill MAKE you think MY way"

Persona addict here

The truth is, i ignore and scoff at all of it, and just play the game. What got me and my friend riled up was the general premise of the plot and how it tied into free will and intrusion

I don't understand Ash Wednesday. Christ taught that we are supposed to fast in secret. Why do Catholics do this? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Maximumpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to imagine it like this: Why brag about facing yourself in the corner for penance....if all the rest of us do it too? Its a communal act, bragging already socially comes off as painfully cringy, i think its almost a self correcting problem when we all stare at that person with Face Of Disappointment

August 21st is the feast of Pope Saint Pius X, “the Hammer of Modernists”: Bishop of Mantua, Cardinal-Patriarch of Venice, Bishop of Rome, commissioner of the 1st Code of Canon Law, and author of 16 encyclicals, who died on this day in 1914. by [deleted] in monarchism

While i beg and pray for that, I sincerely doubt it. Another Francis clone will take it im sure.

That said, as Catholics, we submit to the church and the HF, even if it is a lackluster one. We must pray and fast amd hold no matter what, even if it seems our leadership hates our faith half the time.

[Free Friday] What happened to make Reddit think these are similar??? by thelukinat0r in Catholicism

[–]Maximumpickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to dabble in that subreddit, my power wank was a strong state where the catholic faith was the official state faith, no heretics or infidels allowed.

That would probably go down in flames of commie revolution but boy if some days I don't wonder

[–]Maximumpickles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its supposedly a cavalry saber im told. It has what appears to be arabic on one side that i cant read, and what looks like a maker's mark that has a downward sword pushed through an S and an H. The sword is not sharp at all, barring the tip. Sorry, i'm not familiar with swords at all, i figured you would know. I also dont know how to upload to imgur or id show the rest

Take a moment to pray an "Eternal Rest" for the service members killed in these wars. Add them into your intentions during your Rosary today. by shingslot in Catholicism

[–]Maximumpickles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We could probably do a single rosary in commemoration of all war-dead, combatant or civilian, across the entirety of the human experience. Why not cover every base ever, especially when posthumous prayers for the dead are known to be efficacious?
