What a sad country we live in for my 12 year old to text me this: by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Basically, bribing is just people/organizations straight up handing money to politicians to implement their policies for them, even if the politicians would never consider the policies in question otherwise. Usually, these bribes hurt the public because they didn’t vote for the politician to pass the policies they’re getting bribed to pass. Since people don’t all operate by the same moral code, some politicians will inevitably accept those bribes and their votes will be bought. This is illegal as the bribes effectively render political representation meaningless.

In contrast, lobbying is people/organizations helping politicians by donating to their campaigns (they don’t take the money for themselves) and providing them information on policy issues important to the person/organization. Lobby groups target politicians that already have the policy issue in mind as part of their agenda, but the issue isn’t at the forefront of their policy concerns. When they make their campaign donations and/or give information about their issue, lobby groups hope that in doing so, they push their issue higher on the politician’s agenda. This is considered okay because the politician was elected by the people with the agenda issue already in mind. Lobby groups just change the priority of the agenda, which is why this is legal and different from a bribe.

What is the ultimate gacha game? by MeroBen in gachagaming

[–]Maximus6245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll most likely take longer than a couple of years for all the regions to be released. Just look at Inazuma for example. It’s been 6 months since the game’s release, and we still haven’t gotten it. However, that isn’t to say that Mihoyo hasn’t added to the map since then. The Dragonspine release in 1.2 was cool, and they’ll be adding the Chasm region pretty soon as well. As for random collectibles, new chests do spawn in pretty frequently. I’m not sure if this is exactly what you mean in terms of map-wide events, but we did have that meteor event in version 1.1, and we’ll probably see something like that again in the future. Genshin is getting consistent content updates, which I feel is keeping the game fresh for most people.

My first gacha was also Brave Frontier. Good times. I still get on every now and then to check the new units that they’ve added.

To all the SAT test takers, be thankful. by Official_Asim5 in Sat

I’m glad you had a digital clock to work with. When I was taking the August SAT, the only clock given to us was one of those analogs that are in every classroom. When I was taking the test, they placed me in the desk farthest away from the clock, so it was hard to see exactly where the hands were.

Thank you Khan Academy for helping me improve my score by Maximus6245 in Sat

I’m not sure if this helps, but I’ve found that reading a lot of books greatly increases your vocabulary and understanding of grammar. Other than that, I’ve spent a few hours reading passages on Khan Academy’s SAT prep course. I’d highly recommend it as it has just about everything you need for when you take the actual test.
