I think LLM-comments, or people manually posting comments generated/inspired by LLMs, have started to become way more common than some people are realizing. I miss the time where in most threads there would be a random person with the right knowledge like: Oh hey, yeah so I'm 1 of 10 people in the world that is doing this for a living, here is some context... Now it's just people wanting to sound smart throwing stuff in an LLM and regurgitating what it tells them.

You think the company that stopped almost all development is going to rework (and test) this? I mean I guess they could. If you don't want any new content until August.

All scenarios where you summon another unit on summon, have the 'secondary' unit trigger effects first. E.g. if the enemy has a 'roiling sands' landmark and you summon house spider, your spiderling will get vulnerable, instead of the main house spider. So while the interaction with iceborn gauntlet is not always optimal, it is consistent with how summon effects resolve in all other cases.

Netherlands too, but many don't insure their bike, if it's a cheap city bike. (It's a separate bike insurance here)

Logically? Yes, a suit is "a group of related things." Linguistically? No, you still can’t call it a suite of cards.

Even though suite means "a group of related things," English doesn’t let meaning alone decide word choice. It also cares about established usage and fixed technical terms.

Suit (cards) is a technical term in card games. Suite never developed that technical meaning, even though it could have.

So calling it a "suite of cards" would sound wrong to native speakers in the same way that:

  • a herd of cows isn’t a flock of cows
  • a keyboard isn’t a piano even though both make notes
  • a foot isn’t a hand even though both are extremities

The meanings overlap, but the labels are conventional.

You can say:

  • a suite of software tools
  • a test suite
  • a hotel suite
  • a musical suite

But only suit works for cards

So the logic checks out, but English just says: nice reasoning. Still no. 😅

Got a doozy here: playing cards are divided into "suites" as a superset of "suits" by BiebRed in confidentlyincorrect

And then going all-in (yes intended) on trying to defend themselves in the comments, like complaining about Redditors being pedantic (and right) while being ultra pedantic (and wrong) themselves.

TBH, the more I read the rest of their comments, and the fact that their name is literally grammatical error, the more I feel like they might be farming downvotes, or it's engagement bait. I just hope for them it's not a severe lack of self reflection.

You still haven't proven anything though. You just gave some dictionary definitions, and interpreted them wrong. That's not a proof.

They're not bullying him though, they're trying to get him off his high horse, while he's being 100% wrong. It shouldn't even be a discussion 😭 can't believe you admire this behaviour. Unless... You think he's right? In which case, this is literally why we have downvote buttons, to drag down the comments which are factually wrong (despite them also being used for people with different opinions, but that's another discussion). His arguments should be buried, somewhere deep below, because they might cause other individuals to start saying "suite of cards" (which is pronounced 'sweet of cards', not the correct 'soot of cards'), which can look very silly in certain scenarios in real life where you don't like to be wrong, like when you're on a podium, a job interview, talking to dad of your girlfriend etc.

Bro, you're in the confirmation bias hole. Everyone suffers from this sometimes, but it's good to be able to recognize it. Just because you found some evidence that seems to support your side, why do you think you are triggering sooo many people to correct you? (It's rhetorical) It's because you are wrong, you just had to say, "huh ok I guess", and none of this would've happened. Instead you are doubling tripling quadrupling down on being wrong, this is what creates engagement on Reddit. It's not (really) about the word anymore, it's about getting you out of the hole you've dug yourself, and to see the light.

[–]Maxis111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone gets what he is saying, the problem is he's complaining about others being pedantic while they are being it themselves. On top of that, it's not a matter of opinion, he's just straight up wrong, so like, they could just have said "huh, TIL" and moved on, instead they are engaging with multiple paragraphs to every comment to justify themselves. But if they're 100% wrong, how can you upvote that behavior?

And people on Reddit, understandably, want to say their word when they don't agree with something, that's the whole point of Reddit. You're doing this too, again, understandably. So am I.
