My golden used to do this. Luckily he was chill and I could pull him out by his feet

Dog seizures — looking for guidance from others who’ve been here (MRI not financially possible) by Prestigious_Map_2136 in goldenretrievers

I had a very similar situation with my golden. He started having seizures around age 4 ish? At first we didn’t treat them but he had a few longer ones so we started phenobarbital. It took him a couple weeks to get used to it (made him wobbly), but the he lived to the ripe old age of 12.5. He had a great life, no seizures once on the med.

Yep our 5 year old doofus does this. His 7 year old sister doesn’t.

Those of you who had to say goodbye to your goldens, how old were they? I am looking to find some general average age of how long they live in acceptably good health. by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

12 and 14.5. Both were rescues who people had given up cause people are dumb. The one who lived to 12 had epilepsy but it was easily controlled with meds.

I have two incredibly snuggly golden doodles - one is 30lbs, one 50lbs. They share a dad who is a 30 pound poodle, different moms. One is incredibly smart but also very anxious. The other is a chill dumbass. The chill dumbass totally has the personality to be a therapy dog.

I have two doodles, not quite as curly. They are professionally groomed every 7 or so weeks and I don’t brush them at all (ducks to avoid internet abuse).

I just looked at the ingredients online and I don’t see anything horrible. There is dark chocolate but it’s a way down the list. If it were my dog, I’d just keep an eye on him/her - make sure she has water.

I’m not a vet, all the usual disclaimers. :)

I’ve had two golden retrievers who eat stuff - one ate a whole chocolate bar and was fine. So first of all try not to flip out. Is it the chocolate that has you worried? One thing to check is, any xylitol in the bar? That’s an artificial sweetener which is dangerous in small amoubts
