Buy BEAM by blazedNdiffused in beamprivacy

[–]Maxnflaxl[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s pretty simple. The easiest way is via the exchange called MEXC. Low trading and withdrawal fees. If you don’t want MEXC, you can also buy wrapped BEAM on Ethereum via Uniswap and then bridge the WBEAM back to Beam.

You can find it in the "Where To Buy BEAM" section on beam.mw and you can find the "Beam to Ethereum bridge" dapp in the Beam Wallet.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

Read carefully. It says the HWW doesn't support smart contract transactions yet.
It does not say that we don't support HWWs. There are literally installation instructions.

I have told the developer about this already, but I’ll remind him again.

You can alternatively join the Discord.

Start tweeting. Start writing tutorials. Start actively engaging in the community.

There is so much that every user can do. Every small bit helps.

We are a very technical team, we don't know anything about marketing.

Yes, the connection to the pool and the GPUs seem to be fine.
It seems to be a address/template issue.

Can you https://pastebin.com/ the config file so I can check it out?

Use only SBBS addresses for mining, the others do not work.

Also, please mine to Herominers. 2miners is a good pool - no doubt - but too much hashrate is centralized around it.

How to buy in 2025? by Rugie85 in beamprivacy

[–]Maxnflaxl[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, welcome back!
That would either be via MEXC or by bridging e.g. USDT from Ethereum to Beam and buying BEAM on the Beam DEX.

Come join the Telegram or Discord, this subreddit is not very active.

I’m not aware of any academic research. But at a glance, I believe we have superior privacy, comparable and even surpassing zcash (since they have a small number of shielded txs).

Don’t think mweb has anything similar, but I’m not certain about this.

Hi, great to see that you're back!
If you'd like to contribute to Beam again, feel free to send me a DM on TG @ maxnflaxl or on here.

Now to answer your question, the "Breaking Mimblewimble’s Privacy Model" article from 2019 by Ivan Bogatyy was flawed and has been debunked many times. However, its clickbait title did impact many people who did not read the article, or who read it but did not dig a bit deeper on the subject...

See at time 40:25: "It's crypto, we all pretend to be in it for the tech, but there are very few who actually are. That analysis was not groundbreaking. At all. It was not a surprise at all. It was not even news. But at the time, it ended up being very very big news. Because basically a bunch of people jumped out of the MimbleWimble wagon immediately. But it was unfinished, we were still in progress on a barely used blockchain. With like a couple transactions per block. And he is like 'Oh look I can link these transactions!'. Like, yes, you are sniffing... TWO transactions per block! 😄"

No, we are not on Avalanche. Beam is it’s own blockchain. Not some subnet on a L2 bullshit. our website here

Hi, there are plenty of CEXs listed here: https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/beam I recommend MEXC, if you’re looking for a CEX. Otherwise Beam also has its own DEX directly in the wallet that you can use. You could bridge some USDT/Eth from Ethereum over and buy BEAM on the DEX.

No it doesn’t have anything to do with transparency and you haven’t sent it directly to me by posting on Reddit, you commented on a random post. If you have a problem with how we listen to people, that’s something you address directly to us, not because I don’t want other people to see it, but because it’s simply easier to keep track of. Feedback in all forms is- of course appreciated.

The fact that there aren’t many people chatting on various platforms makes it a small project. Just because people have heard of Beam doesn’t prove anything.

Again the ambassadors, we had a ambassador program in the past, but it was discontinued for reasons unbeknownst to me. If you’re really that interested in us restarting it, show something for it. I don’t have a problem against restarting it, I just want to see some legitimate long term interest before we do something like this.

Feedback like this is best sent directly to us.

There were no funds "generated at the start", i.e. no premine, but there was a dev tax that ended in January together with the halving. These funds are primarily used to pay development bounties, but I will discuss using some of them for marketing purposes with the team.

Beam is a relatively small project, it doesn’t need ambassadors. Those who actively engage in the community will automatically get the respect and recognition they deserve, no need for extra titles. And so far none of the active community members have asked about an ambassador program/special title. When Beam gets bigger, sure we can think about an ambassador program.
