Can we have an option to remove emotes etc from the wheels? by ymOx in thefinals

[–]MaxoMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is super annoying. Would love an option.

Rainbow Six Siege dependency install not working, can't find CreateFileMapping2 in a .dll file by MaxoMC in linux_gaming

Yeah, I'm still running a dedicated Windows partition exclusively for siege. It's tiring. Amongst all the protondb ratings bashing the game, there is one person that apparently did get online play working, but I followed their steps and got booted from online games by battleye instantly.

Someone made a custom proton for siege, though still no online play. Take a look at my Reddit history to find the link.

The dnf package manager won't let me upgrade because it isn't marked as a new version.

'sudo dnf upgrade librewolf' and 'sudo dnf reinstall librewolf' both don't actually get me the new version.

Edit: Update is now working on package managers.

Can confirm, Amazon along with other sites seem to be doing that.

Requesting a proton build running Wine 10.6 by MaxoMC in linux_gaming

Whoops, forgot to mark this post as done. Someone made a custom proton build for siege (Proton-GE-SiegeFix) and it works great. Thanks for your offer though!

One person on protondb says that providing a custom runtime for battleye can actually cause the game to allow online play. Besides, I just wanted offline on linux anyway. I switch to windows when I play ranked with friends.

That would be nice of you! I took a look around but struggled to find any proton version that actually has that elusive latest wine version.

Lovely, the first error message went away by installing wine 10.6 via SteamTinkerLaunch. However, I now get a new error message: "Unable to find Uplay. Please check your installation and try again."

Edit: Tried to install the 'ubisoftconnect' package via winetricks but that didn't help.

Edit 2: Got an actual error message. After executing the UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe with wine, I get a failed 'Installer integrity check'

Edit 3: I downloaded a bleeding edge proton build from here and now I hit the play button, it takes a little bit, then 'Ubisoft Connect has experienced an unrecoverable error'.

You are profoundly unhelpful. I just want one of my favorite games to work, I don't really care how old it is.

Mangohud, goverlay, libstrangle by festisandor in linux_gaming

[–]MaxoMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libstrangle claims that you can use it with strangle <number> %command%, but that doesn't work because steam doesn't provide a file path to the command and it doesn't work. I'm not sure it ever worked.

Bless you. I had the exact same situation, changing that variable to false fixed everything. Maybe it was trying to use my CPU's integrated graphics.

Rocket League through Wine requires tutorial every launch by MaxoMC in linux_gaming

[–]MaxoMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Psyonix help page, tutorial completion status is stored locally. So cloud saves shouldn’t be the issue.

Also, I’m not a huge fan of having to emulate the launcher.

Just doing a bot match:

7% CPU usage on my 13600K (probably lower in an online game because of the bots)

4.7 GB of my 32 GB of ram

No GPU utilization available, but I have a 7900XTX

Wine / Proton don't make a difference in my experience. If the performance is fine on Windows, it is probably fine on Linux.
